A lot better now. As for all threads being in red, i use safari and that doesnt happen it is just like it was before but i tried Google chrome and all thread titles were in red so i think its a browser related issue.

I'm getting confused by the different colour combinations, i.e.:

1. When I visit the site, a thread with new unread comments appears with an orange dot and a red title whereas a thread with no unread comments has a green dot with a red title.

2. If I read a new comment and then click on the forum link, I get a green dot with a green title but, if I use the 'back page' facility, the colours of the dot and title remain the same.

I think that's right. :smt017 Personally, I think there's been too much change purely for the sake of change.

It has always been thus for threads with new posts.
Oh no it wasn't - neither in IE nor in Firefox on either of my PCs, or my Android phone.

Interesting approach to software development this - stick it live and respond to complaints. Actually it works quite well when, as at present, the gripes are addressed quickly. :smt023

Have to admit the differences between the first (pretty dreadful release) and now are quite substantial: well done developers. However, you've a way to go yet to get back to being as usable and user friendly as it was previously. :smt024

Still wonder why we needed to change though. :smt013

Strewth! It's just like the Ulternative Alster site now.

Only with less colourful language.

I can make up for that if there's a need, mind. :smt047

About time;

They should have two seats reserved for members elected by acclaim from the Crumbie, giving a more visceral democracy.

Oh wait. That's not what the rest of you are talking about is it?

I'm sorry folks but, when I now log on, I'm not sure whether I'm looking at a thread I've already read or not as I find the new colour scheme confusing. There has been no definitive guide as to what the new colours mean and, to be honest, I'm not willing to spend the time and effort figuring them out.

This, quite simply, is a case of change for change's sake. The old system worked so why change it? You have my address so let me know when you've sorted this joke out.

Found a real problem with the new board. If you add a Post to a thread and then click Submit, if once the update is complete you click 'View New Posts' the screen no longer automatically updates and you have to Refresh (F5) to make it notice the change.

Change for change's sake is what happens if you let IT people loose.

They want to persuade us to muck about with mobile phones to pay for our morning paper and pack of mints rather than hand over a coin or two. Why?

They want to design a car that decides where it's going, giving you know no control. Why? Does anyone find steering to be more difficult than operating a goddamn computer and frantically pressing buttons when the thing goes nuts?

We have iPhones (or something) which run up bills of hundreds of pounds by scanning for the internet when you haven't asked it to. Why?

IT people need to be micro-managed. I know, cos I is one.

After some discussion, I can advise you as follows (from Tigers IT)

Sotic are working on a new skin now which should fix all these issues.

Obviously as we’d rather the forum is never down, users will see a moveable feast as we improve it. I understand the why change it as it wasn’t broken feedback, but of course we want it to fit in with the current design of the new website, there a few new features now, and it’s been moved to a new server to hopefully make it faster.

So apologies to all for the inconvenience, and should be back to calm sailing soon.

I understand there is work being done on and off, yes. The issue with the thread titles being red/green and indeed, some usernames showing as red, has been reported.
