Collars on rugby shirts
Up until last weekend I thought it was just me but I now know I'm not the only one to suffer from it.
Why does the left side of the collars of several of my shirts curl downwards as it should whilst the right sides invariably curl upwards? This has bugged me for several years and, no matter what I try, I can't get the damned things to behave.
I'm open to suggestions.

Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

I don't know why, but I get the same thing.

Its the rotation of the earth. In the SH the collar tips reverse their trajectories
Re: Collars on rugby shirts
There is a theory that it is down to the pull of the two halves of the brain.
Men are believed by some to use their lefy "logical" side of their brain a lot and this activity causes the left cllar to lift towards it.
On a woman's rugby shirt, neither collar rises.

Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!

Re: Collars on rugby shirts
I actually noticed this on my daughter's shirt on Saturday because of this topic, and then I found myself examining other people's shirt collars (surreptitiously of course). It seems to be a very widespread thing, but I am not sure why!

Ivor Biggun (aka Doc Cox from "That's Life") recorded a song entitled "My Shirt Collar (It Won't Go Stiff)"....

It only seems to happen with my Cotton Traders rugby shirts. It could be another example of the falling standards of this company IMHO.Rizzo wrote:It seems to be a very widespread thing, but I am not sure why!

Re: Collars on rugby shirts
It is due to the button hole.
The collar tends to fall into it.
I liked Kinny's theory though.

Presumably the "logical" side of the male brain as referred to above does not bother with typos or spelling errors

Yet again I am caught red handed not checking my typing.
I've become too reliant on microsoft word and Outlook which underline anything that's a bit wrong with red or green squiggles.
Back to collars, I have a real problem with those frilly dress shirts you wear with bow ties. I get both collars pointing up into my chin. Do I sack the roning lady, or is this inevitable?

She will have to take you in hand!

That's all right, it gave me an opportunity to retaliate for the females on the forum.

Re: Collars on rugby shirts
How can we do the ironing when we have to run the country, invent stuff, and build spectacular viaducts?
