Cordless computer keyboards
Firstly, I'll apologise for the alliterative title.
When I bought my new computer, it came with a cordless keyboard and mouse. Whilst I was used to this type of mouse, the keyboard was a novelty for me. However, this soon wore off when I realised the computer doesn't recognise the first keystroke if I don't type anything for more than a couple of minutes, i.e. it's almost as if that first character is seen as a wake-up call.
Does anyone else have the same problem? If you do and you've cured it, please let me know how.

Re: Cordless computer keyboards
It can't be the batteries as the symptoms have been here from day one. I'm thinking about going back to corded.

Re: Cordless computer keyboards
I do not have a cordless keyboard.
And I am sure you will have tried resetting the keyboard hibernate time via the control panel, but if you haven't ......
(Should either be under keyboard or power options)

Still keeping the faith!
Re: Cordless computer keyboards
Haven't had that problem either, but the computer came with the cordless mouse and keyboard anyway. What might have helped is that it is one of those integrated ones, so not only is there nothing for the keyboard to plug into, but I can do that fancy screen moving thing they do on NCIS Los Angeles.
The conflict thing did happen when I had my computer in the same room as my husband's. There I was, sitting there playing mah jongg, and it went and interfered with his work! Some realignment of room occupancy took place not long after......

Re: Cordless computer keyboards
Almost all keyboards/mice supplied with PCs are very much lower end of the market. I've used a cordless keyboard and mouse on my desktop for years without problem and would hate to got back to the restrictions of a corded one. I also use a cordless numeric keypad with my laptop. You do need to use a quality make such as Logitech or Microsoft, however.
Logitech have the best solution with their latest range which use a 'unifying' wireless USB receiver, which allows multiple peripheral on one micro dongle.
I have a Logitech M705 mouse and a K340 keyboard with my desktop, and an M505 mouse and N305 numeric keypad with my laptop. For all of these the batteries are claimed to last at well over a year - I've had them for many, many months and not changed any of them yet. The dongles stick out just 5mm from the USB port so I never need to remove it for travelling.
Thoroughly recommend all of them.
