National No Smoking Day - Wed 9 March
Scattered throughout this forum are threads about people stopping smoking and here's another.
Are there any of you current smokers thinking of trying to stop on Wednesday? Of those of us who have stopped, have any of you succumbed and gone back to the evil weed? It'll be 4 years in mid-May since my last cigar - here's to the next four.
Sláinte!

Re: National No Smoking Day - Wed 9 March
I gave up last Oct/Nov 50 years after my first cig. Don't think about it now but still enjoy the smell of someone else's fag smoke.
It's the pious ex smokers who really hack me off.

Oh no! If there was one thing that helped me stop, it was the stench of cigarette smoke. It was bad enough being in a room full of it let alone having my clothes reek of it until they'd been washed.Old Hob wrote:I gave up last Oct/Nov 50 years after my first cig. I gave up in 1992 but i too dislike the pious ex smokers. however, the present mrs one eye bought a bigger and better house on the back of the savings of us both giving up at the same time.

Still off them, and like you hate the smell, which is a bit unfortunate as Mrs S still indulges, heh ho.
I used to be indecisive now I just can't make up my mind

Oh yes, it'll be 4 years on 14 May for me. It's an easy date to remember as it's my (and Farmer White's) birthday. It's good to hear you're still going strong. Now, if we can just get Mrs Sherps to see the light ...Sherpa2 wrote:Blimey, is it really almost 4 yeers Beej, wow!

Eight years. And not counting, I enjoy my new life as a non-smoker. And I enjoy giving moral lessons to poor smokers that are still chained to their vice. (is it called a "vice" ? a sin ?)

Vice is right ZSF. Insofar as I aware the Pope has not yet ordained it a sin!Ze Stade Fan wrote:Eight years. And not counting, I enjoy my new life as a non-smoker. And I enjoy giving moral lessons to poor smokers that are still chained to their vice. (is it called a "vice" ? a sin ?)

Good for you! Don't listen to the weak-lunged , hyper-sensitive, pious, mimsy, vinegar-faced puritans. If I could afford it, I'd start again in the face of the antis - literally.Bill W (2) wrote:Er...... No!

You have an agonisingly painful death wish, Old Hob? Now there's a thing to visit on your friends and relations! And yes, I am one of those pasty . .etc people who gave up, but only after 2 near terminal bouts of bronchitis.
Valhalla I am coming!
