Re: National No Smoking Day - Wed 9 March
My Dad caught me gingerly puffing on a woodbine when I was fifteen. He made me try to smoke the other nine in the packet whiles he stood there watching me go green and puke.
I have never put another tab to my lips in the 32 years since. Thanks Dad :)

Re: National No Smoking Day - Wed 9 March
Both my mam and and dad died of heart conditions in their 70s. A good old age, but clearly neither of them were helped by their 40-a-day smoking habit.
So I do take it seriously.
I've never smoked at all.
But I do find the pious postering of the self congratulating ex-smokers to be utterly insufferable. Be more like BJ. Just shut the f*ck up with your preaching and show some sympathy and encourgament. Having given up smoking, move on and give up being pious. You'll do us all a massive favour.

Now that's just asking for trouble.Kinoulton wrote:Be more like BJ.
Thanks for the big up mate but my halo isn't quite that shiny. I can be as 'holier than thou' as the next SOB when it comes to hating smoking. On here, I just try to encourage people to stop. 14 May 2007 was a massive turning point in my life - I'd just like others to experience the same.
Gordon Bennett! I'm starting to sound like some rabid evangelist!
Whatever you do, don't argue. We might never hear from you again.

Sponsorship deals may come and go but the CRUMBIE stand will always remain.

Slightly off-topic, today (31 May) is World No Tobacco Day. I bet not a lot of people know that!

I always try to cheat at Lent by giving up stuff I don't do anyway. Like fags and chocolate.
I don't think I've fooled The Lord.
I am now on some potion from the medicine man that means I can't drink alcohol. By crikey, it's hard to get through the morning!

Never mind the morning. How will you get to bed time?
The quack gave me some tablets that said I could not take alcohol whilst taking them. I got him to change them!

Come and join us happy atheists. We don't let things like Lent get in the way of enjoyment.Kinoulton wrote:I always try to cheat at Lent by giving up stuff I don't do anyway. Like fags and chocolate.

Which begs the question, what does Rizzo give up?
Dancing naked round the maypole? Or is that just my imagination running riot?

Oh dear Kinny - you are in real trouble now.Kinoulton wrote:Which begs the question, what does Rizzo give up?

I go with BJ's way of thinking. It might not necessarily be atheism, it just seems a shame to spoil a good routine.

What? Your dancing round the maypole naked routine?
Will this be allowed in welfordland?
