Favourite band?
Good evening everybody! After a substancial amount of time out in the wilderness, I have decided to come back to the fold.
So, as it says in the thread title, who's your favourite band?
Hope to hear from people!!

Re: Favourite band?
Tough to name just one, to be honest.
I'd go:
The Who
Jimi Hendrix Experience
The Jam
Manic Street Preachers
None of the current bands do it for me at all. Too much of this Coldplay formatted pap of people singing existential cr*p over minor chords and passing it off as art.

Kicks and scrums and ruck and roll.....Is all my brain and body need!

Jeff Beck ( ), David Gilmour ( ), REM ( ), and I endorse Kinny's view of the present ( ) .
Valhalla I am coming!

Re: Favourite band?
That's a difficult one, considering that there is actually a lot of good music from the 2000s (Cold War Kids, M.I.A., Gorillaz, Interpol, Muse, Jamie T etc.).
Of the bands that have been around for yonks I would have to say Chili Peppers, Fishbone, Manu Chao, Radiohead and Modest Mouse are all up there.

These are all popular beat combos I take it.

This is as hard as the 7 car garage game.
Favourite band, well Rancid are right up there although The Clash are a good bet too.
Picking current favourites - Five Finger Death Punch are a good listen (I suggest The Bleeding) and work very well as a pre-match listen for my team and NOFX always raise a smile.
As for the 7 car game;
F40
250GTO
F355
Lotus Carlton
Nissan GTR
F599
Landrover Defender (for the school run you see)

Re: Favourite band?
Forty years ago,me and my mate went to the Bath festival and then wandered round europe for the summer,I ended up back at the first Glasto to finish , along with the Sidmouth folk festival.
A huge cross section of talent in a variety of genres, that some how today eludes me.This years Glasto was a bit of a damp squib, kind of ironic seeing as it didn't rain for once.
The Editors played a good set and, although I'm not a fan,the Scissor Sisters played what they do,very well.
However the Bath festival line up headed by Pink Floyd,Led Zepplin,Frank Zappa,Canned Heat,Steppenwolf and Johnny Winter,to name but a few, was truely awesome.
Let's not forget that at that time Leicester also produced some talented bands/musso's.Family,Blackwiddow,Gypsy plus members of bands like Queen gave us plenty to follow.

Re: Favourite band?
Leicester still produce good bands. Kasabian are from leicester and are pretty good.
Re: Favourite band?
It HAS to be Muse. End of.
Well, that's my opinion anyway.
Just to add a little controversy, what are people's opinions of Justin Bieber? If you haven't already heard of him, you are one lucky person!!!

Kasabian are good,I liked the Wombats too, think they were at "T in the park" last year.
One of the most professional bands I saw in Leicester was at the college "rag ball" at the top rank suite,an American band called Spirit, very slick.
The Il Rondo on silver street on a friday night had some legendary bands on,saw King Crimson there amongst others.Saw John Mayalls Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton during the "beano album" era in Leicester too.All the big bands used to play the De Monfort Hall,is that still a venue?
One of the first ever Cream concerts was at the old skating rink next door to the Tigers ground, think that was one of the "rag ball" do's.

tigerburnie = De Montfort Hall is still a music venue, although less popular these days I think. Saw The Proclaimers there the other week.
Upcoming there is Buddy Greco, Robert Cray Band (well worth while), Manic Street Preachers, Pixie Lott and Jools Holland.

Nowadays, its got to be Muse. Simply stunning band. Unreal live.
Though Oasis pushes them close.
Then there is Kasabian, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin also up there for me.
Oh and Seasick Steve is a legend too!
P.S. Nice to see there is still some people in the World that listen to REAL music.
