A Bridge Too far - Please help me to Help Our Heroes

Post by Col_B »

In September this year I will be one of 300 cyclists pulling lycra over our swollen bellies, and other regions, for the sole purpose of raising as much money as possible for the Help 4 Heroes charity.

September 13th I will be setting off from London covering around 350 miles to finish by following the route taken by the tanks as they tried to break through to reach the Red Devils holding the bridge at Arnhem during World War Two. The inspiration for the film a Bridge too far.

A friend of mine is a nurse in the Royal Navy and so far has completed two tours in Afganistan treating those for whom this charity has been set up to help.

The tales she has told me really have opened my eyes and urged me to do 'my bit'.

I know this is bad timing as there are other similar posts on this forum requesting support for this worthy cause however any contribution will be gratefully received.

If you wish to show your support please visit my Bmycharity page at

Thanks. :smt023

Just done a fundraiser at the local village hall.

The competition; guess how many miles I could do in 90 mins on a turbo trainer.

43.5 miles later £330 raised for the charity. :smt023

Now I'm planning to rest my legs infront of the tv just in time for the 6 nations :smt002

Good effort.

A certain young man in our family is back from his second tour in Afghanistan and it means the world to them that people put in this effort on their behalf.

He's had to deal with picking up the pieces of men, both British and Afghan, that have been blown to bits by IEDs.

Once again, a great effort y Col_B.
