Gin and tonic

Post by Don.Reid »

Is it better, do you think, with a slice of lemon and lime, or just lime?
I just fancy an up and under!

Husband tells me lemon only, no lime.

Personally, when I do drink, I prefer vodka with my tonic. :smt030

Oh I am the world's fussiest gin and tonic drinker. It HAS to be lime, it HAS to be Beefeater or Plymouth gin, it HAS to be fat bird tonic, no slimline, It has to have big cubes of ice and it should be in a cut crystal glass. I can give on the last one in an emergency. If it's Gordons and lemon, it's in the slop tray. Yuk. I'm such a fun easy-going date! It's the only time I get really fussy and American. Honest :smt001

Has to be Beefeater with proper tonic (with you on that one CT) but scrap the ice & lime - it has to be lemon (and not that naff lemon flavoured tonic either!). Also not fussed about what I drink it out of either!

Actually prefer scotch, without anything, but my real fave is Southern Comfort. Either neat or with a little splash of lemonade.

Then, of course, there is beer!

Personally I think a big chunky crystal glass is essential for enjoying spirits with mixers.

Except when you've just moved house, in which case you can drink it out of a cracked mug.

Hendricks is very good as is old Raj (blue label) and 10 - but most of all new tonics from fever tree with a slice of lime!

pitty it's a little to early in the day! - but certainly will have a few over weekend with a pint or two of Tiger at the game - lets hope the sun shines!! :smt040

Bombay Sapphire gin, schweppes tonic (leaded - the slimline stuff is bobbins) and a slice of lemon.

If you slice a lemon and put the slices on a tray in the freezer, once frozen you can store them in a box and not have to faff about everytime you need one.

Gin is pretty much the only liquor I won't drink. Beer, wine, rum, whisky, tequila, lurid coloured sticky things from Italy, melted-down boot polish, nail varnish remover ... no problem. Gin? :smt019

What a fantastic idea, thanks for that.

I'm with Gate though, can't stand Gin but will pretty much drink anything else. Mrs S is rather partial to Tanqueray (sp) though.
