Gate: I've been "Gate" to friends since about the age of 10. Long story, having to do with a Hanna-Barbera cartoon involving a swingin' alligator in the swamp. I take pride in being a rank mixture of Scots, Ulster Scots, a bit of Prussian to square off the head and just a soupcon of Huguenot for smelliness. All made just that bit ranker by the admixture of BEER. Makes me wonder sometimes what my English spouse sees in me.

Age: As old as the stars but as young as tomorrow's dream. Alternatively, old enough to have been distressed when David Nish left the Foxes.

Work: Not telling you. So ner.

Pets: Three affectionate, if flatulent, moggies.

Kids: Two boys. Gate Junior II at 5 shows promising signs of having the right stuff to be the more lunatic type of loose forward. Gate Junior I at nearly 9 wants to be a scrum half. I blame that Ellis boy. Bad influence.

Music: Eclectic. Anything from the Associates to Zappa, with just a few blind spots, such as opera, choral music, and the denatured pap they insist on calling "R&B".

Tigers: Ever since my dad used to take me to the Barbarians matches, and cemented once I concluded at college that I preferred oval to round ball (played mainly hooker, to no great standard). Get up to WR with Gate Junior I (and the Mk II version starting with the Quins match) as often as possible, although not enough to justify a season ticket, plus all the "London" away matches. Also Ulster, for family reasons.

Other sports: Roundyball - Leicester City, natch. And Glasgow Rangers (the old family reasons again). Cricket now and again - Leicestershire, although never the same after Gower. Running and jumping stuff if it's the Olympics.

Drink: Oh yes. I like wine and know a fair bit about it, I love whisky and can bore you stupid on the finer points of different stills, mashbills, barrels and such, but BEER is the thing. BEER is God's way of telling us he loves us and wants us to be happy.

Other: I'm a sucker for fart gags. Probably has to do with the BEER. Or possibly the sauerkraut and wurst in my ancestry.

Me : Graeme. but as most of my friends are lazy I get called Gray

Age : 42 and quite a lot

Pets : None, other than some starlings nesting in the eaves of my house

Tigers : Member for 25 years, Crumbie Terrace. First game against Harlequins 1969, next game at WR Midlands Counties East vs NZ 1973, not enough times this season though.

Other sports : Ex flanker for the school 1st XV (some say I'm still a stupid flanker....), road running - entered this year's London Marathon..... Badminton,

Music : Most types of music except MOR tat.

Films : The Gods Must Be Crazy.

Work : Yes. And it gets in the way of my life.

Drink : Tea, beer, whisky, home brew wine.

Thanks.

Unfortunately it means I'll be unable to go to the EDF final, but I'll be able to watch it in my hotel room in central London.
And I'll have to stay sober..... :smt022

I'm Jess and I'm an old user but don't come on that much any more because I'm really busy

I'm 17 and in my last year at school, and off to Nottingham next year to study mechanical engineering which makes me sound like a complete geek

I live in Somerset, go to school in Bristol

I have 2 dogs and a cat, like beer and food

I'm obsessed by rugby, and am a massive Saints and Munster, support Everton in football. I watch all sorts of random sports such as ski jumping
Donncha O'Callaghan and Bruce Reihana are the best players that ever lived. Don't even bother to argue with me.

And - however good Imanol Harinordoquy is, he is still an idiot

Hey Jess. Employers have long despaired at the number of youngsters who want to do degrees in sociology, media studies, basket weaving and whatever other wet cr*p they come up with.

Engineering is fantastic.

I was at a conference (about the bilding of the London olympics) where it was announced that more boys and more especially more girls are taking up engineering.

The collective joy in the room was brilliant to behold.

Enjoy Nottingham. My daughter did Physics at Nottingham. She spent a fair amount of time watching bands at Rock City and came out with a 1st!

But mind the guns, watch where you park your bike/ car (If you have one) and don't go out on your own after dark.
