Who is the funniest comedian alive?

I often wondered if the apparently lightning quick responses of Merton & Hislop on Have I Got News For You, were the result of slick editing or (as in most supposedly spontaneous shows) because they were given a gleg at the questions earlier on.

But apparently not.

Guest panelists have reported back that the regulars are so unbelievably fast that you just cannot take them on.

It makes it all the more surprising that occassionally you get a tw*t like Max Clifford who tries to have a pop at them and gets made to look a complete dummy.

What about Barry Cryer? He's been going for years, but he's still able to hold his own with the youngsters.
