Nobody seems to have mentioned Jack Dee yet, he always cracks me up.

Rob Newman & Frank Skinner are both touring the country doing stand-up at the moment. I've actually seen both of them live (Frank Skinner twice in fact!) quite recently.

Rob is doing a lot more political stand-up at the moment and did a comedy tour not that long ago with Mark Thomas. Rob's TV series "The history of the world backwards" has also just finished on BBC4.

Frank had decided this year to return to the stand-up circuit for the first time in many years and I must say that his current act is very good.

heir not really comedians though are they more just like entertaining presenters who are very witty and good at taking the micky out of each other.

Genius is used too often, Cleese is genius, Tommy Cooper was genius as was Hancock.

My favourites, although they aren't even near the genius ballpark, are Lee Mack, Eddie Izzard and Steve Martin.

Agree with Cooper and Hancock.

However, the title of thread refers to comedians that are alive!!!

I still think Paul Merton is phenomenally quick.
