t.v. programs you'd like to bring back

Post by hohe »

Just wondering what television programs you would like to bring back and what ones you were glad to see the back of. It will be interesting to see what people say as some people are older than others in the forum

I was really glad to see the back of On The Buses and Love Thy Neighbour. Awful comedy.

I would like to see some of the early adventure stuff back like Dangerman and The Avengers as they had great scripts and were generally about the main characters having to go out and do stuff to stop the enemy.

Later scripts like Miami Vice and The Bill are just a load of cr@p about the main characters gazing at their own navels and sorting out their marriages. Boring as Hell.

I fairly recently re-watched the quite wonderful 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' and the nearly as good 'Smiley's People', and it occurred to me that such series probably wouldn't be made nowadays.

westwinds, anyone who wants to bring back 'Man About the House' has serious problems. I think you need help. ;o)

Fawlty Towers was, of course, the greatest comedy series ever made. IMHO, nothing has come close in the last 30 years.

I watched "Rising Damp" on Sky the other night, and it's just as funny as ever, and so un-pc.
"Blackadder "and "The Sweeney" were good too.

Ha! So it's not just me who had a thing for Paula Wilcox.

They should bring back Blake's 7 - with the high camp, decidely unspecial effects and eveything. I loved that programme. And Dangermouse.

Whilst reading down this thread, I was also thinking of blakes 7 - what a great programme that was.

Get rid off - Songs of Praise, Antiques Roadshow and DEFINATELY, DEFUNATELY without any shadow of a doubt Last of the :censored: Summer Wine.
Our period of waiting is over - this is the time.

I can remember Torchy The Battery Boy. And Twizzle.

I hanker for the days before we had 399 channels, none of whom feel obliged to do anything properly.

In the days of 2 or 3 channels there used to be superb coverage of things like The Horse of the Year Show.

Even townie families like mine all sat glued to the TV to watch it. And in the school yard the next day all the lads would be talking about the Puissance!

Similarly we could all name at least a dozen Motorcycle Scramblers because the coverage every Sunday was brilliant.

I remember there was a scrambling champion called Ivan Mauger from New Zealand. No relation to (soon-to-be) our own Aaron, I suppose?
