Favourite Movie?

Do you have an all-time favourite film? Probably a very difficult one to answer as there are so many great ones to chose from. But do you have any one that stands out above the rest or at least favourites?

"The English Patient" - actually most any film that has Ralph Fiennes in it.

That was very good. I actually saw it in New Zealand. In Dunedin. It also had Kristin Scott Thomas in it. I Like her films.

I don't think I really have just one favourite but I love: Grease, Dirty Dancing, Mrs. Doubtfire (couldn't help but watch it again on ITV yesterday!), King Kong and lots more... :D

I’ve always watched Mrs. Doubtfire since a was a kid and still find it funny now even though I’m 16! :oops: think the graphics in King Kong are brilliant.

Can't come up with just the one, but my list from last year is still:

Best 'its behind you' - Alien (1 and 2 were both great)
Best speach - Gladiator (... father to a murdered son ... still makes my hair stand on end).
Best gangster - Godfather I (pure class)
Best hydrophobia - Jaws (was Robert Shaw ever better ?)
Best spectacle - Lord of the Rings (all of them ... absolutely jaw dropping)
Best 'wow' - Matrix (mind blowing !)
Best 'ripping yarn' - Pirates of the Caribbean 1 (Johnny Depp should have won an Oscar)
Best dialogue - Pulp Fiction (so what is a 1/4 pounder with cheese called in Paris ?)
Best 'yeah' - Star Wars (but we really wanted Darth Vader to win, didn't we ?)
Best twist - The Usual Suspects (if you guessed the ending, you're a liar !)
Best cheerleader - American Beauty (does Kevin Spacey ever appear in a bad movie ?)

If I had to pick just one ....... LOTR, the most beautiful looking film(s) ever made.

Gladiator or I, Robot. Gladiator was incredible, especially as dailywaffle said, the "father to a murdered son" speech. I, Robot I just really liked, but I tend to like all Will Smith films.

I have a few:-

1. The Goonies (still laugh my t**s off when I see it).
2. Last of the Mohicans
3. Pirates of the Carribean
4. Whale Rider (some amazing scenery and a wonderful story)
5. House of Flying Daggers (amazing camera trickery)
6. The Wall Pink Floyd

I was a bit disappointed in 'Flying Daggers'. 'Crouching Tiger' and 'Hero' were both so beautiful to watch, so maybe I was getting martial arts fatigue by the time Flying Daggers came out, but (IMO) it just doesn't measure up to the other two. It just didn't engage me, for some reason, despite the spectacular camera work.

Lord of the Rings (the whole trilogy, extended editions - but if I was forced to pick one of them it'd be Return of the King.)

Pirates of the Caribbean (if only for the beautiful Captain Jack!)

High Society - my eternal favourite, never get tired of watching that one.

The Kinoulton Players did Grease a few years ago.

Rizzo is a great part isn't it?

Some barrack room lawyer told us that we might break the copyright law if we ripped off the original script so I completely re-wrote it with new names.

Rizzo became Rizzla
Sandy became Dusty
The Pink Ladies became the Scarlet Ladies etc.

Well I saw it first before the other two and was at the cinema with a really bad cold and thought it was fantastic. I've since bought Crouching Tiger and that is just as good too. I think you expect too much when you've seen one amazing film. Film sequels ought to go into Room 101. :P
