OSR, the reason for this is Rooney was probably going to get away with a yellow until he pushed Ronaldo, in a highly unsporting manner. At that point, he may as well have just signed his own red card warrant ;)
Again Sim, the player did it, there is no standard, it is up to the referee to decide, if the referee decides its bothering him, the referee will yellow card him. You know why? Because that is the referees job, *not* Rooneys. England players did it too believe it or not, every team did, on every decision from throw-ins to offsides to fouls. As much as he'd like to believe he is, Rooney is not the one man on-pitch law enforcement agency. Thats why we have referees in football. You want to appeal Ronaldo's behaviour? Go to FIFA *after* the match.
