Hey Iain, your a mod. Well done:D

And I say we go out at the Quaters, without Rooney upfront we have to play a 4-5-1 formation, and that'll take getting used to.

Just been watching have I got news for you and like the idea of Boris Johnson replaceing Rooney.

Lets face it neither would stay on the pitch for the whole 90 minutes !!!

I'd suggest option 8 was unnecessary. If you don't care why bother looking at the thread anyway?

On the bench-he can come on later as an impact player to scare defences and we go to 442:

4-5-1 team.

I have to say I've never been a fan of one up front. Too often you see the front man getting isolated and Owen has a real tendency to have that happen to him when he's been up by himself. My personal preference (having done some coaching in my time) is to have two up front feeding off each other. Crouch and Owen would suit each other well I think.

But that wouldn't happen with Gerrard+Lampard coming up to supporting with Carrack at DM, own can run onto Gerrard+Lamps balls through and can hold it up for thsoe two to run onto it.

I'll be generous and say second round defeat. Ahead of them I'd put Brazil, France, Italy, Argentina, Holland, and some obscure African/Asian team that'll get to the semi's for no good reason.

No, don't put yourself down, Iain!! I am sure you are funny.

:D :D

I have gone for the knockout in the semis due to the draw and Rooney's injury. Hope I am wrong and forty years of hurt is ended! I can feel Baddiel, Skinner and Brodie coming on again!!

I have to admit, I am very surprised to see Theo Walcott in the squad. He is a very good prospect and may turn out to be our next Rooney or something like that but he hasn't played a full game for Arsenal yet so seems a big gamble.

Agree with the rest of the squad. Am impressed with what I have seen of Aaron Lennon and Stuart Downing isn't too bad either.

Yeh i thought minus a keeper and plus defoe.
i think Walcott is a good gamble - its the type of thing i'd do on cahmionship amanger, so why not inr eal life!
He's an unnown quantity. People always talka bout the step up to internetional level, but aslong as he plays with hhis herat on his sleeve he'll eb a hit. He really could be great, and i see no problem with slecting him, apart from elaving defoe out - but if he ahd been in, we'd jsut have 4 short fast strikers i suppose.....

That's well put about Walcott, 4. As you say, give him a go and he could be what England needs. Certainly a surprise quantity. He has got a great future, I'm sure.

BTW, just a little trivia. Theo Walcott is a relative of Clyde Walcott who played for West Indies. One of the legendary Three W's. Walcott, Worrell and Weekes.
