Spellcheck

Post by fleabane »

Is there any way the spellcheck on the forum can be English, rather than American? Please?

I don't think it is my PC - spellcheck is in English.

Thanks

I will look into it, but I didn't think there was a spell check on the forum.

To my knowledge, there is not a spellcheck option available. I have not found it yet.

There is a very good, free, spell checker that integrates seamlessly with Internet Explorer. It can be downloaded from www.iespell.com.

A right click in any input area provides access to the check spelling option.

I have used it for a long while through many versions of IE and I am currently using it with IE8 and Windows 7.

Give it a try - it is also easy to remove if you don't like it.

Thanks everyone.

What I get is all my English spellings underlined in red when there is an American way of spelling a word. Irksome!

As far as I know Firefox has it's own built in (or addin) dictionary and I would suggest that there is a parameter in its setup which is probably currently set to US/English rather than UK/English.

Not a Firefox expert I am afraid so can't point you any further, hope this helps though.

In Firefox, if you go to Tools, Options, Content - there is an option button to choose your preferred language, you could try that.

It can be configured (via the options menu) to British, Canadian or American English.
