Just a quick question.
Sometimes when i am browsing the forum and get to the bottom of the page to the place where it lists users that are online, and sometimes included in this list are "google[bot]", or "yahoo[bot".
I was just wondering what these are.
Many thanks

Re: bots
Almost BJ.
Bots are indeed automated programs, used by search engines in order to catalogue pages on the web and their content. The page has to be 'visited' before all it's content can be determined. Hope that makes sense!

Re: bots
“Bots”, “spiders” or “crawlers” are automated agents most commonly used by search engines to update their databases. Since they rarely make proper use of sessions they can distort visitor counts, increase load and sometimes fail to index sites correctly.
Website admins can define a special type of user to overcome these problems, which are what you occasionally see at the bottom of the page as registered users.
