Logging In

Post by RegBob »

I'm asking this while i can actually log-in to the message board.

Can some-one please explain why, even though i check the 'always logged in' i'm asked to log back in.
When i click on log-in at the top of the screen, i'm asked to enter my details (just use the 'saved' log-in here) when i press enter, i'm confronted by the same screen, the normal board screen with log-in at the top? Even when i type in the details, i get the same.

I'd understand if it told me incorrect password or equivalent, but i'm not. i've tried putting an incorrect password and sure enough i get told as such.
But when i put what i know to be the correct password, i end up back to the board page.

today is the first time i've been able to get on to the board in nearly a month!! :o( Although i still read any messages as a guest.

Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that next time i visit the site i'll be able to log in, so either post here, (i can still see any reply), or perhaps email me regbob dot uk at ntlworld dot com

thanks in advance for any ideas or help

Are you sure that you have cookies enabled on your computer and has any new AV/Firewall software been installed on your machine recently?

As Dave says, it's most likely to be your cookies - you have to have cookies enabled to be able to remain logged in - and also sometimes security settings can affect this if they are set to the highest level.

Sorry folks, it's not the cookies!!

it's not the fact of auto log-in, it's the fact that the board doesn't recognise my log-in details. Although it also doesn't tell me the details i'm using are incorrect.

Tonight i've done nothing different, but since wednesday, this is the first time i've been able to get on to the board. Even when i change the password, it still doesn't let me on, or tell me the details are incorrect!!

I guess it's just one of those annoying things that's gonna happen.

It's happening to me now. For some reason my computer is unable to retain the details which would allow me to be permanently "logged in".I shall look at the cookie situation, but can't think I have changed any settings recently.

I've had a quick look at both your profiles and can't see anything that looks amiss. If it continues, let me know again and I'll report it.

Sorry, but ...

I've been having the same problem since the message board was closed a couple of times a week or so ago.

And it's still not working for me :smt017

Thanks Tigerbeat,

But

I'm still having to sign in every time I visit the forum, despite ticking the box.
This has worked for the first 10 months or so since I joined but not since about 3 weeks ago. :smt017
