Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2022/23 - Prisoner of Oadby Pre-Season

Post by TigerFeetSteve »

So last Wednesday evening Socino posted he was leaving Tigers, in the 6 days since not a single murmur of acknowledgement... I get the club is probably batching them all up for one announcement, but if a player choses to announce early, even just an acknowledgement that a message would be published shortly would be good...

Even Tom Hardwick got a paragraph out of the club...

I suspect it is the 1st of July as that is when the contracts end but I agree nothing by now seems very silly. The seasons over, let’s get on with it.

You kinda hope there would be a big thing about it with it being this long after.
Br pretty disappointing if it's just here as list...

Agreed, the leavers in a title winning year should get a proper send off, especially when one is our capitan, one is our 10 and another is our defensive mastermind.

I suspect we'll see a list on Thursday or Friday. It's not that much later than last years. :smt003

I have been informed that there will be a release on leaving players in the next few days……some loose ends to be dealt with.

Surely Ford and Genge have already had their goodbyes. I would hardly call someone our defensive mastermind when he has barely played in half the games this season.

Still no sign of a definitive list of who is leaving - don't some contracts end tomorrow June 30? Seems it's not just Tigers. But it is very frustrating to see that other clubs have at least announced who is leaving even if there are still new recruits to be announced. I can only think there is lots of negotiation going on and we're trying to keep certain folk if the cap allows?

Loose ends, that could be a lot of things...

Though suspect most likely being late is working out the plan for covering Dolly during his rehab.

Does loose ends also hint at loose head prop arrival/ departure additional to Cronin arrival or am I getting too Columbo on this!?
Quite possibly, depends who it was TB spoke to
1. How much in the know they are
2. How mischievous they are feeling

I do think another loosehead would mean one of ours going.

A month ago I'd have said Leatigaga the most likely leaver however a few people have said they've chatted to him and he's staying.

Van Wyk, after a strong start though has faded a bit so there is a chance he may be going.

Nothing official from the club, but a few people who have spoken to him recently seem to be under the impression he's staying.

Think it is very disrespectful to the leavers to not announce who has left and who has stayed.

Their last day of employment is literally today, we talk about valuing all the players and all their contributions contributing to the success of the whole but then don't even acknowledge those leaving until the very last moment, assuming we do eventually bother to do anything.

Given the level of employment a lot of these guys will be looking at is Championship, National 1, Pro D2, MLR, Italy or Spain these are levels where clubs rarely have recruitment specialists & the publicity of announcing their departure could seriously improve the players chances of landing a contract.

If it is only Socino (which I doubt) it is even worse as he publicly confirmed his status last week!

Similarly we've not announced which of our under 18s have signed professional terms and will be in the development squad next season. Hardly going to make them feel special & valued?
Goooooodeeeeeyyyyy!
