at his market value not a chance we could afford him but if MVS were to leave due to health and if he put other factors into his decision making such as playing with his Country captain, learning under Borthwick, getting conditioning from Aled and defensive coaching from Sir Kev then just, just maybe! :smt001
Van Staden signed for us when he was out of the international picture and had a lower profile. I think we got him at a good price considering the player we got (not considering the concussions which are just bad luck). I doubt Curry would sign for what can Staden is on. The again the cap does start going back up next year, though how much we'll have of it to utilise I don't know as some of the young guns will be up for renewal and a number of them will have international caps.

IMO I would be very surprised if Van Satden isn’t one of our highest earners

I am hopeful on MVS fitness but still not 100% convinced, Matera would be the ideal replacement as someone who is capable of playing all across the back row.

Can we stick to the topic. The contact that I asked the question to is a very reliable person and the leavers etc will be put out in a release when all details are finalised. A separate thread has been created for those who want to comment / discuss leavers / when will it be announced.

Shame - always rated Hegarty. But I guess even when the internationals are away he may be struggling for a starting spot. So might make sense for both parties.

Once they re-signed Kini think the writing was on the wall for Bryce.

Very good player in Oz,didn’t really live up to his potential here and was inconsistent. Shame really

I’d have Kini over him all day anyway

Disagree - think he was a good backup to Steward. Kini doesn’t really have the kicking game from 15 that Borthwick wants.

But next season I could see Burns covering 15 and Gopperth 10.

I thought he played well v Connacht away certainly stepped up
I suspect with Watson here for the Ai's and Pollard here for the 6N's TinyTiger is right about Burns potentially stepping up at 15 during the 6N's.

Walsh also looks interesting as a 10/15 option.
