Nadolo
Saumaki
Ashton
Murimurivalu
Watson

Got to wonder how many will be here after next season.

The likes of
Adam Radwan
Joe Cokanasiga
Ollie Hassle-Collins
Ben Loader
Ollie Sleightholme
I believe are out of contract.
It is feasible that the 5 Tigers players you listed could all be on their way the season after next so we will defo need a few signings with no top quality wingers in the academy.
Cokanasiga didn't look big to me yesterday and I think he had a very poor game, so he's not for me.

RagingBull wrote: Sun Jul 03, 2022 10:32 am With all the news that has kinda come out i still wonder if Martin is viewed as an out and out back rower with no look at Lock.

So far squad depth wise we have
5 front rows of
1. Cronin, 2. Montoya, 3. Cole
1. Whitcombe, 2. Dolly, 3. Heyes
1. Van Wyk, 2. Clare, 3. Leatigaga
1. Richardson, 2. Cowan-Dickie, 3. Hurd
1. Smith, 2. Vanes, 3. Hoyt
Pretty Happy with that don't really see much need for another prop unless the right one is about

Locks
4. O.Chessum, 5. Wells
4. Henderson, 5. Green
4. Snyman, 5. Manz
4. Carnduff, 5. L.Chessum
Pretty Happy, was worried about top line quality but Chessum and Henderson both have potential imo to match that.

Back Row
6. Liebenberg, 7. Reffell, 8. Wiese
6. Martin, 7. Cracknell, 8. Jansen
6. Ilione, 7. Odiase, 8. Owen
6. J.Manz, 7 _____, 8. Koroiyadi
Hmmmmm gone from pretty confident with the whole Back row to worrying about depth, it's such a brutal position usually never have everyone fit or available now both.

Wiese and Reffell now out for Internationals, Jansen IMO will shine especially with a full preseason he's going to be a tank. But it's just a case of numbers because this season we had Props, Hookers and Wingers playing flank. Murimurivalu maybe move full time into the back row haha

Half Backs
9. Youngs, 10. Pollard
9. JVP, 10. Burns
9. Wigglesworth, 10. Walsh
9. Edwards, 10. Meredith
Perfect IMO Gopperth covers as well but how many teams have 3 Internationally capped 9's and 2 Internationally capped 10's?

Centres
12. Kelly, 13. Porter
12. Gopperth, 13. Scott
12. Cokanasiga, 13. Cusick
12. Woodward, 13. Loose
Pretty happy generally, potentially see space for another centre

Back 3
11. Watson, 14. Potter, 15. Steward
11. Nadolo, 14. Ashton, 15. Hegarty
11. Saumaki, 14. Murimurivalu, 15. Simmons
11. Olowofela, 14. Browning

If Nadolo and Hegarty do go we 100% need another back 3 player IMO.

For me the holes
Back row x 2 (One being a front liner)
Centre x 1 (Could see someone older experienced coming in maybe a 13/Wing type player rather than a 12/13 type.
Back 3 x1 Potentially depending on things.

Prop if someone is about.
I did very similar thing on Facebook; I only did first three XVs my changes were
  • Heyes to be first choice Tighthead. I feel like the time is now right.
  • Still feel Snyman is above Henderson, but by end of season I think one of Snyman or Green will go, and that'll see Henderson step up assuming he comes back from injury okay.
  • I share your concerns about the back row. That being said a Matera/Curry type (or Willis for a year if Wasps wind up), plus the Italian U20 who's name escapes me, makes everything look comfortable again.
  • At 10 I still worry about not having a youngster making real headways. Walsh seems to be doing well, but we said that about Lancaster, and Hardwick before him.
  • Centres depend on how much the coaching staff rate Cusick. If they are happy that he could play the odd prem game if needed than I'm happy.
  • I don't like the age balance of our wingers. Ashton is 35, Nadolo is 34, Saumaki is 30, and Kini is 33. I'm still surprised Kini signed a new deal, but as it stands I'd make him 2nd choice full back if Hegarty goes. I'd quite like a 15/14 to come in
Largely agree with your assessment. On the whole the balance of the squad is good, IMO and I don't think anywhere is too congested if we had a star emerge from the academy. Even on the wing Browning and Olowofela could well get opportunities this season, but if we were to get Radwan next season then I'd be very happy.

He clearly had talent though, one game doth not maketh the player.

Also, did we really think Ashton would be a premiership starter?

If Steve and Co. decided to go with Cokanasiga then I'd be happy to trust them.

Is Cokanasiga going to turn into the next Juan Martín Hernández and Damian McKenzie?

Cole still edges it for me starting the season but wouldn't be surprised to see Heyes finishing the season as first choice TH

Watson is exactly that surely. Occupied positions by Anthony on start team : Fullback : 88 times ( Fullback 53% ) Winger : 79 times ( Right Wing 37%, Left Wing 10% )

We anticipating any singings news today?

Got to be this week right? Think I saw somewhere we're gathering post pre-season next week.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Post pre-season? But I think I know what you mean. The official leavers list from the club did mention squads would be confirmed before pre-season commenced. Seems soon for pre-season to me but, I don't know the dates. Partly this is because I think we need a longer period of R&R. For those who are playing in internationals there is no let up...although I support internationals, player welfare never seems to be a factor. Bodies need time to recover.

Watson will be that, but I would like A. N. Other.

I would imagine practically that when Steward is not here during the AIs, Watson will move to 15 with then Ashton coming in for the 14 shirt.

However, I firmly believe that unless Jones has a complete about turn and uses some of the excellent young wingers coming through, both Steward and Watson will be in the England XV for the Six Nations. Having another 15/14 alleviates that pressure.

Yes, I appreciate that Lord Freddie of Burns can play at full back but I'd rather him coming off the bench to change a game then starting at 15.

Sorry my dyslexia got me. Our first gathering post season, for the pre-season.

I thought I saw somewhere that our preseason starts on the 11th July, that may be nonsense, but other clubs have already started there's. It does seem a very quick turn around, but such is modern sport.

The international players join pre season later than the others to ensure they get a certain number of weeks non-rugby.

Some of the players are doing their own thing anyway. Working with sprint coaches at Loughborough University for example.

Ahh I see.. well, that would be nice. I would like to see another back row/7 specialist as the priority and perhaps a centre; those would be my 2 highly desirable positions to cover but I am certain it will be being looked at

isn't that why Simmons was kept on to cover wing and full back especially during international windows?

Quite possibly, plus 9, given Law has been released and there is now a real chance of us losing both Youngs and JVP.

Well done again Sir Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow for the Leeds 10K push for MND.
When is Kevin going to get recognised for his charity work.. Brilliant pre season training too! :smt023
