Quite possibly, plus 9, given Law has been released and there is now a real chance of us losing both Youngs and JVP.
We'd have Edwards and Wigglesworth as options at 9 as well but Simmons versatility will certainly be very useful.

He clearly had talent though, one game doth not maketh the player.

Also, did we really think Ashton would be a premiership starter?

If Steve and Co. decided to go with Cokanasiga then I'd be happy to trust them.
I cannot remember him having a great game for England, maybe I have a bad memory but like I said he's not a signing I would be rushing to make, even next year.

Put Joe in our team with our coaches he would look excellent.

It is all about coaching- Bath, England without Borthwick, Man United, the England Cricket team etc etc. The best coaches make players better- that’s why Klopp, Borthwick etc are the best in their sports.

The only time a question players is their injury record but again you have to trust the best in their business to do their jobs.

True, but with the suggestion that Hegerty and Nadolo are off mid-season, during the six nations we could be looking at:

15. Kini
14. Ashton
11. Potter

15. Simmons
14. Browning
11. Saumaki

A couple of injuries and we could be in trouble, especially considering Kini is 33 and Ashton is 35.

I see what you're saying, but...

1. If we have Nadolo and Hegarty till the end of the AI's we're only looking at cover in the 6Ns

2. Even if we keep Burns as primarily a 10 I think in an injury crisis he would cover there.

3. We also have Cusick who played wing in the PRC for us too. Plus Walsh is a 10 who can play 15 too.

4. With the agreement in place with Nottingham and players like David Williams there who's done well for us already I think we would borrow a player or two in that scenario.

5. We also didn't list Olowafela on the leavers list, so if he doesn't get a loan we can add him to our options.

For me in a salary cap reduced world, that's as good a depth as can be wanted. So for me I'd be looking at putting cap into a back row.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

We'd still have Burns & Porter able to shift to 15 & wing respectively, we'd have Cusick & Olowofela, we could have Phil Cokanasiga step out to wing.

And that's assuming two players leaving based off a couple of tweets, hypothetical injuries & a worst case scenario on international call ups.

If all of that happened then we'd sign someone, you cannot plan and cover for every eventuality.
Goooooodeeeeeyyyyy!

If long term injuries do bite, there's always the injury dispensation budget

We need to grab Vincent Koch from the collapsed Wasps.

I'm pretty relaxed about all the uncertainty. The club is a very well-run outfit now. I have total faith in Andrea, Steve, Kev, Aled and the rest of the management.

In modern day sport those ages are no biggy - Nadal is 36, Jimmy Anderson 39. Both still doing something hard on the body at the top level.

As long as we're not looking at those older guys playing 20 odd games they'll be more than reliable to cover a short injury hit spell. Having said that Gopperth played a ridiculous number of minutes for Wasps this season. They've got the type of experience they can step right in and do a good job as well.

Hegarty confirmed off to Force just a matter of when.

"It is hoped he will be in Perth by November but he could arrive earlier if he secures a release from Leicester who will make a decision when their international players return for pre-season."

That's some uninspiring quotes from his future head coach. "ideal match day bench player", will take pressure off of the incumbent 10 because it's not a young guy coming in behind him.

If he's not settled here and isn't likely to get a lot of rugby you can't blame him for eying up the golden beaches of Perth and a regular spot in the 23.
