Thought Martin played well yesterday off the bench - made some big carried in traffic and feel we’ll need his physicality against Saracens. I’d go with:

Genge Montoya Cole
Chessum Green
Martin Wiese Liebenberg
Youngs Ford
Scott Moroni
Potter Steward Ashton

Clare Leatigaga Heyes Wells Reffell Wigg Burns Porter

Defence certainly appeared to up physically when Martin came on.

I get the Martin physicality but if Kelly doesn’t make it and Montoya is slightly off again Reffell slowing their ball down at the breakdown is an absolute must!

Like the idea of Wigglesworth on the bench for this one :smt023

He won’t feature but MVS would have been invaluable in this final. Next year hopefully !

I think that was the plan though, Saints bench didn't have a lot of carrying threat and they are well known to tire in the second half. Unleashing Martin to smash back their forwards worked really well. Made slow ball even slower and largely nullified their attack.

Sarries will come hard in the second half so he may be used in a similar way next weekend with Reffell ensuring they have to commit forwards to the breakdown instead of being free to flood the attack.

Surely Porter must start, also JVP instead of WW.

It's a tight call. Porter has been fantastic this season and is in fine form but he has also rushed out on occasion leaving gaps and has had a red and yellow card fairly recently. He is so versatile I would have him in the 23 shirt with Scott suring up the midfield alongside Moroni. I know you don't like WW so wouldn't choose him in any side but against Sarries he will be a real asset and could be just the player to come on and close out a tight game. Ashton and Potter on the wings for me with Scott and Moroni in the centres. WW and Porter on then bench but clearly that's just my view and the only one that matters will be announced on Friday at 1200.

I wish I could be at Twickenham next Saturday, but I'll be there in spirit. Go get 'em Tigers. :smt023

Not convinced Scott has much more experience, and is Porters tackle technique becoming an issue

Very good point, though not convinced they will commit forwards and rather just fan out.

If Reffell is attacking the breakdown he will attract more players to the clear out because he's such a threat.

It’s a good point Sam but the old Sarries were often quite happy for you to have the ball because they were so confident in their defence that they would turn you over again. Arguments for both views it will be interesting to see how they go.

Heavens - but Prem Rugby's page for buying final tickets is a pain! As I couldn't see in the email an "exclusive link" for STs & members to buy tickets, I phoned Tigers office for advice. If in doubt, always phone Welford Rd - they know what they're doing & told me the blocks which Tigers had been allocated. So I'm in M26, R58, S35 surrounded by lots of other Tigers. Bring it on!

I hope the shuttle buses are running from Richmond: they're so useful - lunch at the Prince of Wales by the green!
