Thank you for your excellent points. Please, surely the only situation where there can be any ambiguity is where a player who is not out of contract has been asked by the club to leave early if possible? For those who have been offered a new contract they would have to be masters of gamesmanship to play matters out with so little time left and its hard to see how the club could sit back and let them decide at their leisure without imposing a cut off date?

Try to remember the principle of deferred pleasure. We've waited 9 years for a championship trophy, surely we can wait 8 days to learn next season's squad?

Heaven help us if there are some unexpected names on the leavers list, if when the list is coming out can provoke such debate.

Well, given the policy of the club appears to be depth across the board, I wouldn't worry too much. It's a buyer's market so I imagine final contract negotiations are going down to the wire especially the quality of some of those leaving from other clubs (Burrell for example). If anything it might be Porter's call up has forced a re-think, even though we do have various folk recruited who can play at centre...Rugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 6:03 pm Heaven help us if there are some unexpected names on the leavers list, if when the list is coming out can provoke such debate.

Another example of a player being left to announce their own departure.
