agreed, and from what I've seen of Meredith he looks very promising (great to see him featured in recent Tigers training photos, often with GF). Really hope we see him (and Walsh) play in the PLC next season at leastRagingBull wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 2:40 pm So Jed Walsh/Morgan Meredith for Lancaster should I think be a decent cap saving.

David Douglas-Bridge signs for Ealing. Made a couple of PRC apps for us this season. Good luck to him

On the K'poku situation, personally I am not sure if he will come, though I do think he would be a good signing if he did. I guess like others, he would want/need some assurances about the plans for the club if SB does go next summer. That is going to have an impact on our recruitment, that uncertainty. It is a challenge the club is going to have to handle carefully over the next 12 months, as it affects all manner of recruitment decisions.
On Martin, i know a few people have mentioned him as being included in the 2nd row options, and that they want to see him there. The club disagrees - they see him as a 6, and he will be only be training to play there. Unless there is a massive injury crisis, i would be very surprised to see him at second row in a Tigers shirt.

Re Martin that might mean he has a limited number of starts especially if Liebenberg is skipper next season. Liebenberg on a different level to Martin in the 6 shirt, and if everyone is fit and available first choice back row is Liebenberg, MVS , Wiese with Reffell on the bench.AViewFromLe2 wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 6:20 pm On the K'poku situation, personally I am not sure if he will come, though I do think he would be a good signing if he did. With Liebenberg being able to play 6,7 and 8 and Martin 4,5,6,8 Martin would be the better bench option for me. Although 19.Chessum ,20.Reffell works very wellRugbygramps wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 6:47 pmRe Martin that might mean he has a limited number of starts especially if Liebenberg is skipper next season. As shown multiple times reality is you rarely get the whole back row fit at same time just those type of positions.

That's correct ,I'm going on a fully fit back row and then I wouldn't have a specialist 7 on the bench when we have so many other players that can cover so many other positionsRagingBull wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 6:55 pm As shown multiple times reality is you rarely get the whole back row fit at same time just those type of positions.

Looking at the stats Hanro has played 20 games so far this season for us! He has started at 8 5 times in Wiese's absence and has started at 7 4 times. His favoured position though is 6 where he has started 9 times. The other 2 matches he was on the bench.Scott1 wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 6:51 pmWith Liebenberg being able to play 6,7 and 8 and Martin 4,5,6,8 Martin would be the better bench option for me. His career stats are:
Occupied positions by Hanro on start team :
Back Row : 90 times ( Number 8 40%, Blindside Flanker 31%, Openside Flanker 24% )
Lock : 4 times ( Lock #4 4% )
I think during the early stages of the season with Wiese and MVS away we will likely see:
4. Wells
5. Green
6. Martin
7. Reffell
8 Liebenberg
19. Snyman/Henderson
20. Chessum
When the SA Internationals return I think we will revert to:
4. Chessum
5. Wells
6. Liebenberg
7. MVS
8.Wiese
19. Snyman/Green/Henderson
20. Martin
That is assuming Martin/Chessum aren't called up to the England squad and Reffell isn't called up to the Wales squad.. if they are then we are looking at something like:
4. Snyman
5. Green
6. Liebenberg
7. Ilione
8. Jansen
19. Henderson
20. Wells
Lots of depth although losing Chessum, Martin, Reffell, MVS and Wiese would hurt! We are very lucky Hanro is available all season as he is so versatile playing anywhere from 4-8.

You forgot Cracknell... Plus let's not forget Henderson prior to injury had been in the Scotland squad so can't rule out a call up for him if he starts on fire for the seasonOakhamTiger32 wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 8:29 pmLooking at the stats Hanro has played 20 games so far this season for us! Lancaster would only have been in the "academy cap" not the main one, and Jed Walsh similarly. Meredith will not be in the cap at all (unless we are really paying teenagers over £50k straight out of school!)RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 2:40 pm So Jed Walsh/Morgan Meredith for Lancaster should I think be a decent cap saving.

I'm not claiming to be an expert at all, but when Lancaster joined us he joined direct into the Senior squad, NOT the senior academy squad.sk 88 wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 8:47 pmLancaster would only have been in the "academy cap" not the main one, and Jed Walsh similarly. Now I may be wrong but to me that suggests he was not in the academy cap, and instead is in the main cap.
Walsh on the other hand was signed into the Senior Academy squad, and Meredith (when the club confirms Academy promotions) will be in the senior academy squad too.
Notably Agbongbon was the other outlier who is listed as being in the Senior squad, when in reality you'd expect them to be in the Senior Academy squad, and it was pointed out he's added his highlights reel to YouTube (which can often be a sign they're advertising for a new club)
Now it may be wrong, but if there's some weird quirk in the rules that forced their wages to be in the senior squad it could explain why they're not being held on to as tightly as others?

Last Thursday on a bye week was a big popcorn day.
What do we think, Leavers, Academy promotions, Odaise, more renewals and a couple of really under the radar signings?
Or am I being greedy?

I’m hoping a leavers list will be announced and then perhaps academy promotions - perhaps an 11/11:30 and 12:00 bit of news?TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Thu May 26, 2022 7:45 am Last Thursday on a bye week was a big popcorn day.

Would be nice to know the leavers before the final regular home game of the season.
