Didn’t see this in the ‘formerly of this parish’ thread, but I think it deserves a thread on its own.

Great player and I enjoyed his performances in Tigers’ colours and for England.
Then of course he masterminded Tigers magical winning of the Premiership and European back to backs.
Being in Paris to witness the first European Cup win who can forget him on the pitch at the final whistle!
Thanks Deano. Simply The Best.

Then threw his toys out the pram demanded all his memorabilia back, and the renaming of a bar.
After that at Quins he was involved with one of the sports biggest on field scandals.
Great player great mentor, but 2 sides to every coin

To be fair, this is due to the way he was treated by the Tigers BoD at the time!

This is a mistake he paid for dearly, and everybody makes mistakes...

For me, he is, and always will be a Tigers' hero. There has been nothing like the roars of "Deano" from the stands ever since nor will there ever be IMHO.

I trained with him as a lad and he was (at least) then a really lovely chap.

The bloke is a Tigers Legend, the Deano chant even crossed over into football with his namesake. Watching him play was at his pomp was something else.

Bloodgate is a stain on his career but unlike others who gave tarnished the game he took his punishment.

Hopefully bridges can be rebuilt now he will be less involved at another club.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Deano was exactly what you wanted from a number 8, uncompromising, I knew him through my brother who was both in the police with him but also was captain of the police rugby team, who Dean played for occasionally in important matches. What he achieved with us as a rookie coach was outstanding, just like Brian Clough, he was the best manager England never had.

Deano will forever be my favourite Tigers player.
Absolute Legend.
Sad if he is leaving the Premiership for good, as I shall miss his post match interviews .. the look on his face if the question was some inane drivel was priceless and some of his barbed comments hysterical.. I love him .. I know it’s an awful cliche but I really think this is the end of an era

Reading the story, he is not leaving Falcons, but will still work with them as a consultant, just not as a dor anymore.

Deano was great as a player but think his influence as a coach was over rated as he had very good players at his disposal and did very little actual coaching. Anyway all in the past now so let’s just look forward to hopefully a successful few years.

He is stepping down from his current role rather than leaving Newcastle. Its reported that "He will continue to work with the club in a part-time consultancy role"

Deano was in a DOR role at Tigers with John Wells looking after the forwards if I remember rightly. One of the most successful runs whilst he was in charge.

Deano was and always will be the reason TIGERS ARE FAMOUS WORLDWIDE.

HE ALONE WON US 2 EUROPEAN CUPS, LEST SOME OF YOU FORGET IT.

And with John Wells as his sidekick
