Bristol (Home) - 30th April 2022 KO 15:00

Post by Rugbygramps »

Side for tomorrow v Irish has now been announced so what are we expecting the side v Bristol to be. I am hoping we go as strong as possible to get the 5 points and as a rehearsal for Leinster.
Given we have no definite info on the fitness of Steward, Montoya and Reffell, I’m going to assume they are available for selection.

Steward
Potter
Moroni
Scott
Nadolo
Burns
Youngs
Genge
Montoya
Cole
Wells
Snyman
Liebenberg
Reffell
Wiese

Bench- Claire, Whitcombe, Heyes, Green, Robinson, W/W, Ford, Porter

Fully agree we need to field our strongest 23 against Bristol to get a good win. Would be tempted to start with JVP Burns and keep Youngs Ford off the bench.

With him not in the team vs London Irish, I think it's vital to give Henderson some gametime ASAP, with injuries etc we may start looking thin at lock soon
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Chessum back for Leinster TFS puts us in a stronger position. Take your point though

Agreed, strongest XV, with a thought about managing players returning from injury. If we are looking comfortable then we can make early substitutions.

I must admit to having a similar thought and Bristol aren’t the scrum team Quins are

Leatigaga is starting vs LI same as Whitcombe, if one of those plays both I'd suspect it to be Whitcombe.

Might even see Porter at 13 and Moroni on the bench as he is absolutely key for Leinster. Could see Nadolo rested too. As always SB will pleasantly surprise us!

Some tough calls in there and given nobody knows the injury status it’s all a bit up in the air but I’d go:

Steward
Potter
Porter
Scott
Nadolo
Burns
Youngs
Genge
Montoya
Cole
Henderson
Snyman
Liebenberg
Reffell
Wiese

Clare, Van Wyk, Heyes, Wells, Robinson, Wigglesworth, Ford, Moroni

I suppose Henderson is only 2 weeks back from a long injury.
It might be viewed as too soon.

Tough call on so many levels but what a position to be in …Think Reffell must be being rested ..Not sure who 2nd LH might be …Collier exposed that side at the weekend in the first half but Genge as a starter against Bristol more than levels that up ..Hope Montoya is fit and available more than anything else
