In fact the original and some details are here https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/wat ... 901-online. I think (?) now I've compared with photos elsewhere, Tigers are second out but both teams being in stripes (in B&W) is confusing Perhaps one of our historically minded fans could confirm!?

As an aside, I am not sure about the description of this game. It looks like Tigers and could be Welford Rd., but suspiciously, Leicester City also drew 3-3 on that exact date (see
https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/history/browse/?season=1901).
Anyone with access to historic Tigers club records?

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 1901 - Black and White
As well as a great look back over a century and more of Tigers and rugby in general, it is also a great social document.
Imagine a coach or official coming on to the pitch wearing a top hat now!!
Looking at the crowd, it is difficult to see a man or boy without a hat. I certainly saw no women there.
It is sad and a bit upsetting these days when younger men don't seem to know the etiquette of hats and when you should remove one.
I was taught at a young age that you always removed your hat if you went into someone's home, a church or public building.
Also if a funeral was passing. It was expected that you should tip or raise your hat when meeting a lady.
The "crime" worse than death in all branches of the armed forces was to walk into an Officers or Senior ranks without removing your headgear, whatever it was. There is a wonderful scene in the film "Guns at Batarsi" when an African Officer walks in to a British Sergeant's mess wearing his hat. The "explosive" response of the RSM (Richard Attenborough) is shear poetry.
Sadly, some people in civil life these days seem to be devoid of what is really, just good manners.
On a visit to the USA 8 years ago I saw a man sitting in a restaurant eating while wearing a baseball cap. My sons had to restrain me from snatching it off and remonstrating with him. Should it bother me? Well yes, just like all poor manners.

Lack of binding in those scrums and players bind as they arrive. Yet no collapses amazing. Fabulous clip
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 1901 - Black and White
Description is right, Tigers come out second if you look up pictures of Jacky Braithwaite or A.O. Jones (also England's cricket captain!) you can recognise them.markharbtiger wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 8:18 am As an aside, I am not sure about the description of this game. Teams used to clash a lot around then as both teams just played loads and loads of games.
