Shane Warne - another cricketing great departed

Post by Tigerbeat »

Such sad news. A real shock to hear of his death. A day after the death of the former Australian wicketkeeper, Rodney Marsh. A truly great player and certainly a good listen on commentary.
Thoughts are with his family at this time.
RIP Shane

Agree 100%. Have just re-watched that first ball that got Gatting out. Truly talented.

And let’s not forget Sonny Ramadhin. I think I saw him at Grace Road in 1957. Ramadhin and Valentine, those dear little friends of mine.

Shane Warne RIP

Post by Soggypitch »

Ok I'm not aware he played much rugby, but the man was a true sporting legend. The best spin bowler I ever saw.

It brought tears to my eyes yesterday evening reading all the tributes from other sporting icons.

A tragic and incredibly sad loss.

Was mentioned in the office yesterday when the news broke and was one of those really moments, a true sporting legend and even some Indian cricket supporting colleagues expressed their admiration.
He could still do it as well I remember seeing on sky sports a master wicket keeping class with Ian Healey, who kept a lot to Warne, with Shane throwing him down a few and he could still land it on a sixpence.

Double blow for Australian cricket with them losing the wonderful Rodney Marsh a few days earlier. For those who never saw him he was the guy who mostly kept to Lillee and Thompson in their prime

The greatest of his kind and very unlikely we will ever see anybody else in our lifetime that comes remotely close to him.
Had the pleasure of speaking to him on a few occasions, always had time to chat with you.
Legend gets used to frequently in sport but in this case this man was, RIP Shane.😢😢

Just watching an excellent film on him on Amazon Prime, probably put together before his death but very good
