Usual call from Dickson of use it no more than 5s after the maul is formed.. then despite Newcastle rumbling towards the Quins line he tells the 9 to use it repeatedly.. surely they were going forward.. give the maul a chance Karl :smt017 :smt012

Must be nice for Karl going back to his old stomping ground.. seems like a fair choice of official for this one :smt002

2 yellows for quins, so he's clearly not biased.

But no penalty try :smt017

I honestly don't think he is biased just seems strange an ex-Quins player can officiate a Quins game

Too many variables pass had to be made and there was a defender there. Not convinced it wasn’t a Mcguigan double movement either

I think it most certainly was a double movement but there is no way that try wouldn't have been scored. If Care doesn't rip that illegally Brown was coming in at pace and would have 100% been over.. easy pop offload, no question for me. But.. it was a double movement so ultimately a fair outcome perhaps

I know Falcons have young half backs and missing a lot of their leaders, but they do seem naive in their game management.
Opposition have 13 players should be trying to get Radwan in space as much as possible

Mcguigan having a decent game. Always liked him shame we never got to see him under Borthwicks stewardship

Too many average players at Newcastle and by average I mean by Premiership level, same as Worcester. Mcguigan is head and shoulders there Best forward and surprisingly only 28 . Radwan isn’t Getting the ball in space . So many times Newcastle passed the ball coast to coast without interesting a harlequins defender . They give there all though you can see that

McGuigan very very good, as someone else said Falcons just seemed naive. Quins just far more accurate at the business end of the pitch.

Dickson had a good game. I posted the law on mauls last week - as soon as the maul is formed it has to move forward immediately. If not, that's "use it" once. Assuming it starts moving within 5 seconds it can continue, but if it stops going forwards after that then the ball must be played out of the maul - it makes no difference if the maul starts going forwards again after that point, it's too late. He is applying the rules correctly.

Could have given a penalty try, but I think it was a 50/50 call.
