Tiglon wrote: Fri May 13, 2022 1:45 pm It might not be as simple as just the club kicking him out because he's not good enough. Perhaps he is frustrated by the lack of game time, no suitable loan arrangement has come along and he feels his best option is the move to Ealing, so he's asked the club to let him leave early, SB has said we feel you have potential and would like you to stay but understand your reasoning, let's keep in touch and perhaps there will be an opportunity to come back in future. Everyone shakes hands and has a hug.
Spot on next season he would have had Pollard, Burns, Gopperth ahead of him before he even gets a sniff
I hope it was amicable too but he didn't seem to shine too brightly at Nottingham in his opportunities there either so perhaps they're more keen on having Meredith or Walsh on loan next season. I think he'd make a better 12 but again opportunities would be thin on the ground in that position at Tigers next season

Always impressed me with his pace, quick to the breakdown, swift pass and strong in the tackle. For me he was light years ahead of White. I hope Tigers use him rather than Wiggo at 9.

Dan Lancaster has agreed to an early release from his contract. Seems to be doing the summer on loan I. Australia and then on to Ealing.

Regarding Simmons, ISTR he got a severe bout of glandular fever which set him back just at the time he had forged ahead of White?

Despite being listed in their squad as a 9, I don't think he has played there for Jersey at all. I guess he was behind at least two, or maybe three of their other 9s. When he did make their team it was either as f/b or wing. It will be interesting to see where he fits in back at Tigers

Edit: Having posted above, I have just noticed that Simmons is on the bench for tonights game v Coventry, as the replacement 9!
(Guy Thompson and Jack Roberts both start for Jersey); Sam Aspland-Robinson is on the bench for Cov.

Covering 9 on the bench tonight for them.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

He's looked like a centre out of place as a fly half. Got the same vibe from him as I did with Tom Hardwick (positional fit wise, not the other stuff).

Let's assume the worse and that
Cowan-Dickie, Leatigaga, Robinson, Moroni, Taute, Socino, Aslpand-Robinson, Olowofela, Nadolo all leave end of season

and no one come in outside the Italian U20 we still have 3 teams of
1. Cronin, 2. Montoya, 3. Cole
4. Chessum, 5. Wells
6. Liebenberg, 7. Van Staden, 8. Wiese
9. Youngs, 10. Pollard
12. Kelly, 13. Scott
11. Potter, 14. Watson, 15. Steward

2.
1. Whitcombe, 2. Dolly, 3. Heyes
4. Snyman, 5. Green
6. Martin, 7. Reffell, 8. Cracknell
9. JVP, 10. Burns
12. Gopperth, 13. Porter
11. Ashton, 14. Saumaki, 15. Hegarty

3.
1. Van Wyk, 2. Clare, 3. Hurd
4. Henderson, 5. Manz
6. Agbongbon, 7. Ilione, 8. Jansen
9. Wigglesworth, 10. Meredith
12. Cokanasiga, 13. Cusick
11. Browning, 14. Simmons, 15. Walsh

4.
1. Richardson, 2. Vanes, 3. Hoyt
4. Carnduff, 5. Chessum
6. Koroiyadi , 7. Odiase, 8. Owen
9. Edwards, 10.
12. Woodward, 13. Loose

With outside the front row a lot of those players covering more than one position.
and that's worse case

As you say RB that’s worse case scenario with no one else arriving. As with any squad some weaknesses some real areas of strength. You could happily put that 3rd 15 out in the PRC

I think Dan Lancaster may be like his dad in that he will find his place and be very effective but does not yet fit at the top table and being pushed too early could be detrimental. I too think he needs the space and time 12 provides rather than being quite a frantic 10. He needs more game time and to settle on a position to develop. I would welcome him back if he looks more assured.
