Freddie Burns was having a solid game today, some of you are making out he was terrible, he was controlling territory brilliantly

The thing was that in spite of what Flatman had said, Burns had not had a good game .. he had put in at least 4 bum kicks. Hegerty then had a mare .. he had already shown his defensive frailties at full back which we also first saw against Scarlets pre season . I think it goes to show how lucky we were when jones failed to pick Ford in the Autumn. Fly half is going to be a big problem for us over the coming weeks.
I thought our starting pack were superb today especially Weisse, Martin and Montoya. The bench did not cover themselves with glory .
Also I agree taking Scott off always seems odd to me as he’s our best defensive back.

Kini
Potter
Moroni
Kelly/Scott
Saumaki
Burns
Wiggy

With JVP, Lancaster and Porter on the bench

Give Lancaster a go against Worcs and give Burns the keys fully. More or less strong choice backline with a good blend of pace and power.
JVP to start, I'd want Wiggy with Lancaster after the changes
Good shout there Jimmy. Hanro back to captain

If Freddie is going to play 10 we need to play more of a game he is comfortable with. Play him next week outside JVP give him the chance to prove Borthwick wrong.

One thing this weekend has proved is those teams who hardest hit by international call ups are going to have an interesting couple of months

Never put Steve Borthwick down as a liar, but there is no way that Freddie’s substitution was an injury

Freddie had to come off the field, it was an injury, there's was nothing I could do about that.

Summary of SB's answer regarding the FB removal.

That's that then.

He was absolutely fuming, no way that was a injury.

Would add Whitcombe to that. Hopefully Chessum and Heyes back from England

still doesn't explain why Socino didn't come on, given he has played 10 for years

Fuming that he was injured ….maybe ? You’d be pretty annoyed if you were injured.

my follow up would have been well Steve why did you decide to move Hegarty there and deploy JvP into a completely new position rather than use the vastly experienced former international 10 you had sat on your bench?

No problem with Hegarty moving to 10 he has done well for us there so far and has super rugby experience there. He was just awful
