Yup, it would be good to see Simmonds get a run of games from the bench, around the 55 minute mark.

I do worry about Underhill’s long term health with the way he plays and his history of concussions.

If he is out then I hope Ben Earl isn’t next in line, he doesn’t have the nous to choose when to compete for the ball or not. Ludlam might be back up to Curry but I don’t know how much of a fetcher he is?

Slade looks well in form and plays so much better without Farrell in the centres. We can only hope…

Curry at 7, Dombrandt 8 and Ted Hill at 6, I’d like to see with Earl and Farrell nowhere to be seen!!)
Semper in excreta.

I’d love for Slade to decide his long term position is 12, as Marchant is just class at 13.

That or Kelly and Ojomoh really kick on.

Does anyone see a call up for Kelly Tuesday? Surely has a great chance with a 36 man squad

I would but Eddie is likely to still have Faz, Slade, Tuilagi and Marchant ahead in his pecking order

Oh whom 3 are outside centres and one is rubbish… admittedly Tuilagi can play 12 but he can’t stay fit long enough to build a team around.

Kelly did play very well against Connacht, but didn’t have his best game against Wasps. On a few occasions he got caught behind the gainline, which made me think that he’s not quite ready for international rugby - no shame in that given that he’s only 21!

I would love for Eddie to commit to Kelly and Ojomoh (and Tuilagi when fit).

With an expanded squad of 36 is there any risk of both Chessum & Martin going? With Covid bubbles there probably won't be any releases to clubs. Possibly Wells too?

And I don't care how much he doesn't suit their gameplay, or how much depth they have, the form Reffell is in he may well be in the Wales squad.

I think it an unlikely senario but I really hope Liebenberg and Henderson are fit and playing soon or we may be streched there again.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Italy have named their squad for the 6 Nations:

https://www.rugbypass.com/news/italy-na ... n-crowley/

ITALY SIX NATIONS SQUAD 2022
PROP (6)
Pietro CECCARELLI (Brive, 17 caps)
Danilo FISCHETTI (Zebre Parma, 15 caps)
Ivan NEMER (Benetton Rugby, 3 caps)
Tiziano PASQUALI (Benetton Rugby, 21 caps)
Cherif TRAORE (Benetton Rugby, 12 caps)
Giosuè ZILOCCHI (Zebre Parma, 15 caps)

HOOKER (3)
Epalahame FAIVA (Benetton Rugby, 1 cap)
Gianmarco LUCCHESI (Benetton Rugby, 8 caps)
Giacomo NICOTERA (Benetton Rugby, uncapped)

SECOND ROW (4)
Niccolò CANNONE (Benetton Rugby, 15 caps)
Marco FUSER (Newcastle Falcons, 36 caps)
Federico RUZZA (Benetton Rugby, 25 caps)
David SISI (Zebre Parma, 18 caps)

BACK ROW (6)
Toa HALAFIHI (Benetton Rugby, uncapped)
Michele LAMARO (Benetton Rugby, 10 caps) – captain
Sebastian NEGRI (Benetton Rugby, 36 caps)
Giovanni PETTINELLI (Benetton Rugby, 1 cap)
Braam STEYN (Benetton Rugby, 46 caps)
Manuel ZULIANI (Benetton Rugby, uncapped)

SCRUM-HALF (3)
Callum BRALEY (Benetton Rugby, 12 caps)

OUT-HALF (3)

Paolo GARBISI (Montpellier, 13 caps)
Leonardo MARIN (Benetton Rugby, uncapped)

CENTRE (3)
Juan Ignacio BREX (Benetton Rugby, 8 caps)
Luca MORISI (Benetton Rugby, 36 caps)
Marco ZANON (Benetton Rugby, 7 caps)

BACK THREE (5)
Pierre BRUNO (Zebre Parma, 1 cap)
Montanna IOANE (Benetton Rugby, 9 caps)
Tommaso MENONCELLO (Benetton Rugby, uncapped)
Federico MORI (Bordeaux, 11 caps)
Edoardo PADOVANI (Benetton Rugby, 30 caps)

Not considered because of injury: Riccardo Favretto (Benetton Rugby) Simone Ferrari (Benetton Rugby), Johan Meyer (Zebre Parma), Matteo Nocera (Fiamme Oro Rugby/Zebre Parma) Jake Polledri (Gloucester), Marco Riccioni (Saracens)

Notably Parisse hasn’t been called up, so it looks like his international career is all but over. His replacement (Squidge Rugby’s highly rated) Michele Lamaro retains the captaincy. Italy will have some good options at 8 when Polledri gets back from his injury! Good to see former Tigers player Tiziano Pasquali in the squad too.

Going by the incredibly scientific route of picking 2 XVs plus a few additional specialists to get a squad:

1.Marler 2.Cowan-Dickie 3.Sinckler 4.Itoje 5.Hill 6.Lawes 7.Curry 8.Dombrandt
9.Youngs 10.Smith 11.May 12.Tuilagi 13.Slade 14.Radwan 15.Steward

1.Genge 2.George 3.Stuart 4.Martin 5.Ewels 6.Ludlam 7.Underhill 8.Barbeary
9.Quirke 10.Ford 11.Daly 12.Atkinson 13.Odogwu 14.Marchant 15.Malins

Plus Rodd, Blamire, Davison, Sam Simmonds and Alex Mitchell.

Maybe expect something like that given AI selections and some returnees from injury?

Personally I'd take Kelly or Ojomoh over Atkinson but largely what I'd predict Jones to go with there is very similar to what I'd pick.

I have a feeling that George Martin might just miss out on the initial squad having not played for a few weeks. I've included him there though to round out full XVs. In the Autumn the squad only carried three locks with Lawes able to cover. I expect similar with Martin maybe missing out for Barbeary in the back row.

Personally I'd pick Ribbans over Ewels but the coaches seem to like him. I still think Kruis will walk back in to this side if/when he returns to the Prem. Ewels has the feel of keeping a seat warm for Kruis.

Heyes might be close to a call-up with recent performances. TH depth is still an issue. Stuart doesn't convince me at all.

Potential returnees later in the tournament will be Farrell and Launchbury if they can find fitness and form. Both are meant to be close to full fitness.

It's such a shame that Jack Willis might miss the whole season. I think Willis and Curry could complement each other very well as a flanker pairing.

I'm delighted for how well things have gone for Pasquali over the last few years. He's developed into a very solid TH indeed. Such a lovely young bloke when he was here. One of the good guys doing well.

The Italy back row options will be fantastic if they get Lamaro, Polledri, Negri and Steyn fit at once. There's a lot of carrying and go forward in that quartet.

Interesting to see Marco Fuser back as well. Early last season when Falcons were playing 4.Petersen 5.Fuser 6.Robinson I was really impressed by the three of them in partnership. Petersen (briefly of this parish) and Fuser seemed to really enjoy being part of that three lock system really on the tight work. Fuser seems to have fallen out of favour a bit though. Given Italy's lack of locks he could certainly do a job there if he plays as he was early last season.
