time for one of the development squad back rowers to step up this weekend then

Ilione is the only back rower in the Senior Academy Squad and I think he's still recovering from the shoulder injury he suffered in the u20 6 Nations. At least, I can't see any evidence he's played a game since, nor has he been in any training videos.

Hmm I dunno I think Borthwick would only do that if he was going to have Whitcombe on the bench as well. The Borthwick tactics generally have a bench to bring an impact to the game. We wear down the opposition then use our bench to either see out the game or provide the coup de grace. I would assume that we'll go with the Genge/Montoya/Cole and then hammer the Falcons scrum and maul defence during the first 50/60 mins and then bring on the more mobile Leatigaga/Dolly/Heyes to turn the screw against either the tired Falcons starting props or the inferior bench front row.

I also think we might see Wells at 6 and then if fit Henderson along with Chessum on the bench.

Chessum has been playing really well so I’d start him at 6 and Martin at 8. Was never a fan of Wells at 6

Slim pickings at the moment though. Maybe Ban Wyk for a ‘bulkier’ option perhaps.. just highlights again how dull that late hit by Wiese was!

That's assuming that Synman has recovered from his illness. If Synman and Henderson are both out it could be interesting.

I expect that type of team if possible but if not it's possibly an Academy player or loanee covering one of the positions if Dolly/Whitcombe doesn't cover there (personally I'd have those two covering 6 ahead of Van Wyk, Whitcombe did well when playing there)

John and Julian could throw a few good hooks. Manu collected a fair number of cards. Can't we have "bring back the old aggression" without a bit of hard-core?

I'm not for cheap shots but hard rugby. Interpretation of rules may be an issue. Watched him a fair bit and low body position off the back of scrum or a stooped drive have bought him a fair bit of attention around shoulder and neck. Hard man playing a hard game.

Big Tomas got most if his cards for "technical" infringements, Jasper's are mainly foul play & in far too many cases dull play.
Yes they are both "marked" men, but Jasper really needs to learn.
