Fantastic result, not seen the game yet, only just got home.

As a Tigers fan who tries to keep the blinkers off, you’ve got a point about the knock on. I was pretty much in line and I don’t think we could have complained if it was judged to be deliberate and worthy of a yellow. Very impressed with Connaught throughout - Carty is outstanding. Tigers bench front-row decisively swung the game for me.Connachtabu wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 2:57 pm Just to offer another perspective on reffing, I thought the intentional knock on at start of second half (your 13 maybe?) was very lucky not to get yellow card. That ball goes outside him there’s a line break and real chance of try and he had zero chance of catching, it was pretty cynical.
But all fans look at game with blinkers on and no doubt Connacht had decisions going their way too.

I thought Porter made a considerable impact in the second half when he came on, and Hegarty did well when he took over as fly half. Well done to the team.

Borths likes Porter, could be wrong but I believe he’s been involved in every 23 when fit.

Agreed we has scrum ascendency and we handed the LBP to them by choosing to kick it back to them and that gave rise to a penalty and then the drop goal for the LBP. Poor decision making in my humble position the scrum would have run down the clock and given us possession to kill the game off.
On that performance I have no clue why Burns stated he should be the first choice to replace Ford
Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity

I don't think there was anything wrong with the tactics in the first half, we just lacked a 10 to execute them accurately. I wonder if its worth giving burns a few games on loan to get rid of the rust as it would be very hard to pick up ahead of Hegarty at the moment. Massive boost for Whitcombe to come on alongside Cole and Montoya and he did well. Back row were superb. Great win but we need a massive step up for next week.

Also helps that Porter is one of the most determined player in the squad he's almost like Moody at times.

Sometimes it’s simple stuff that makes a difference like Steward being moved back at full back which he knows inside out and is probably the best in Europe - as a winger he’s club level at best.
That change meant we got control in the backfield - helped Hegarty too when he moved to fly half but possibly Burns would have benefitted by Freddie being at full back.
Coupled with the new front row getting scrum dominance we suddenly looked a balanced XV again and turned up the pressure.
My opinion, for what it’s worth, is that the team selection was unbalanced (and therefore I’d argue wrong) but we did enough to hang in there and came through in the end.

Porter and Hegarty very much typify the effort and solidity we've developed across our whole squad. Its fantastic that we've been able to rotate as much as we have and still grab the results. Especially the last 2 games. The quality of our 2nd/3rd string has been subpar for years, but now I can trust that whoever Borthwick picks is going to do the job.
