I think its only just 1 or 2 of our posters who call it the row.

Why not Front row, Middle row and Back row? :smt002

Ay2oh has swapped Van Wyk for Heyes, can't argue with that either mate. Need dynamism off the bench,as I was embarrassed when Quins played Bristol, you are not safe 30 points up!

On an opposition put in most of the time you tried to get a nudge by driving the scrum forward to give your hooker the edge in winning the ball. The hooker patting his arm on the props back or the scrum half touching the hookers arm with the ball prior to the ball going in was also developed to give you an edge, it used to be that the scrum half shouted "ball coming in now" and of course you pushed before the "now" bit just to pinch an inch as it were. Todays titles are really misnomers , with the ball going straight into the back two rows directly on most occasions the noble art of scrummaging has decreased. Ditto the second rows function in the lineouts, when lifting was a penalty offence, you have a battle for the ball, now you can barely compete, those two parts of the game used to be massive, now they are purely are just a means of a restart, it used to be a major part of the game.
Ah, the good old days when lifting in the lineout was illegal. The locks and taller back rows would jump and compete while the the front row would stand around whistling, with their hands in their pockets waiting for the ball to be caught. Not :smt005

Usually the ref would have a whole smorgasbord of offences that they could penalise from both sides if they so felt. If the ref took a dislike to you, they could legitimately whistle you off the park. Not that many would go to that extreme, but they could make life very difficult by just penalising a team for actual infringements.

As they used to say in the old police training days after laying out a scenario : "Ignoring conspiracy, how many offences have been committed?" :smt003 You could do the same on some days.

Are our South Africans currently in Leicester?
They have had some time off. Hope they have not been allowed home as travel from there is now banned.

I hope so too, but am glad we have depth in our squad in case they are not.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Very frustrating!
We can’t even hope for Saracens to lose as that would mean we would be hoping for Sale to win!
