Next Number 10 ?
Given an ideal world , money no object who would you bring in to re place George Ford and why?
The serious and perhaps not so serious contenders as doubtless behind the scenes at Welford Road plans are already afoot……..
I’ll let the experts in speculation kick things off , here is what ‘The Ruck ‘ has to say on the subject :

Seemingly heading rapidly toward senility .....Not long or far to go now , in fact, getting worse daily.....
Re: Next Number 10 ?
Pollard or Barrett, realistically Simmonds or Lozowski

Re: Next Number 10 ?
That link suggests Sexton. I had not thought of him. Tigers have had some excellent Irish players, usually arriving much earlier in their career. Not sure the money he would require. I do think cheaper UK option more likely to maintain a balanced squad. I am sure there are some spreadsheets with projected likely earning requirements for their next contract for some of the young lads that have stepped this year. We will do well to keep them but a core of young players could be here for the next 5-10 years but will be moving from 5 figure to 6 figure salaries at their next negotiation.
Re: Next Number 10 ?
If English it would be Lozowski if foreign it would have to be Pollard. The pack has gone from a Ford Fiesta to a Ferrari so either would do a great job!!

Re: Next Number 10 ?
Ideal: Ntamack or we sign all 3 Barrett brothers.
I wouldn't mind seeing Patchell or Anscombe, but that's unlikely.
Costelow never having left.
English wise, not terribly fussed.
Ben Volavola maybe...
Providing it isn't Jackson, Cips or Cooper.

Re: Next Number 10 ?
Both would get my vote. Don’t know much about Sexton’s contract and likely salary but he would be a fantastic signing. I’m sure SB will get a great FH with the circa £750k we have now freed up

Re: Next Number 10 ?
I don’t think we need anyone in a hurry. We have Freddie, Lancaster and possible cover.
Pollard would be far too expensive and possibly at the expense of other overseas players.
In fact a lot of overseas suggestions should be ruled out for similar reasons.
IMHO

Re: Next Number 10 ?
Please not Sexton who is massively over-rated. Sooner have Lozowski ornSimmons.

As long as we have a world class replacement signed for next season thats all that matters.JGT57 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 9:08 am I don’t think we need anyone in a hurry. We have Freddie, Lancaster and possible cover.

Re: Next Number 10 ?
GF is the marquee, so replacing him with another marquee would not effect the cap / other players, right?JGT57 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 9:08 am I don’t think we need anyone in a hurry. We have Freddie, Lancaster and possible cover.

I would not be surprised, though, if SB found an unknown gem. If not, IMHO, it has to be the marquee spot, and a far better player than we have. It can wait until August next year :)
Re: Next Number 10 ?
+1 . Freddie needs a chance and I would expect him to be given more time at 10 now that GF is on his way out. nothing flash or expensive just a really good game manager.sapajo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 9:31 amAs long as we have a world class replacement signed for next season thats all that matters.JGT57 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 9:08 am I don’t think we need anyone in a hurry. Re: Next Number 10 ?
Sexton is 36 and in a set up that carefully manages how many games he plays. He really only plays the big games at Leinster and for Ireland. It would be a terrible choice for him and us to try and put his body through a Prem season.
Re: Next Number 10 ?
Don't forget we've got Subfield. He could do a job if required...pretty sure he could do most things to be fair. Check out Yorkshire Post report on 'The extra mile' next Monday, Tuesday. Some very generous Tigers fans. Sinfield is so humble. No talk just action. Must have been difficult for Ford to walk away from that kind of leadership.
