Short answer, no. If we are aiming to win the title, we need a top class number 10. For me, an international standard fly-half is far more likely to get us there than an international lock.voice of the crumbie wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 3:07 pm Devil's advocate question. Could we manage with Burns, Hegarty, Lancaster and Socino and invest the George Ford money elsewhere? Maybe an international lock or like for like replacement for one of Nemani Nadolo or Kini Murimurivalu who given their respective ages won't be around for ever.

Seen a lot of names floated around on here but any evidence of us sniffing around anyone? Who do people feel is realistic? For me, Biggar is unrealistic and such a move away from Ford tactically (also, and this would change immediately if he did ever sign, I literally can't stand the bloke). Personally feel that Ford is vastly superior, and the Lions series would have been won with almost any other starting international 10 than Biggar. Avoid IMHO.
Domestically you'd feel that Lozowski could be realistic, Umaga maybe, Grayson maybe? Though Lozowski isn't an out-and-out 10 and presumably Wasps/Stains would fight tooth and nail to keep the other two.
Feel like it would be great to nail down someone for a decent length of time, especially hoping that JvP will be a long term 9 (until we inevitably lose him for England!). I'm guessing there are some Kiwis looking at Mo'unga and Barrett and thinking "ooh the Midlands sound nice right about now..."?
I don't mind Hegarty BTW but he'll be 30 in the summer and Burns will be 32. No shortage of experience but a long term option would be good.

Sanderson chats the most nonsense of any Prem DOR in the history of the game, must be infuriating at times being a Sale fanScott1 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 4:34 pm Have you heard Sandersons comments?!

We actively encourage players’ extra-curricular activities and George has got a coffee shop in Saddleworth next door to his girlfriend’s Italian which they are renovating.
“We are going to help them with that because it is important that people are industrious off the field as it transfers on the field.
Hope the salary cap manager is taking a note of this.

Can talking to him as much as he says classed as tapping up? Or has he just been doing it at the "right" times?

That would be such an arrogant and stupid move from Sanderson.RagingBull wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 5:11 pm We actively encourage players’ extra-curricular activities and George has got a coffee shop in Saddleworth next door to his girlfriend’s Italian which they are renovating.

So, that's the most likely explanation then.
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

Good shout, but he plays more than not at Leinster.
Rhys Patchell?

Ross is rumored to be looking out now though due to not really being in the international consideration, Harry is also set to take over if he leaves.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:29 pmGood shout, but he plays more than not at Leinster.

Whilst he may play for Leinster it's only because his younger brother and Sexton have overtaken him in terms of international selection. If Ross thinks that Leinster will follow the Ireland lead of preferring Sexton and Byrne Jnr then he may opt to cash in abroad.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:29 pmGood shout, but he plays more than not at Leinster.

I like Ross Byrne I think he'd have the skills to do the job here, I might have already mentioned him as someone I'd hope we were looking at. The only problem might be that if he's leaving Ireland he could want to maximise his earnings which might make France a better option than us. Our last playmaker from Leinster didn't go so well either.

The frustration that none of the names suggested are even close to Ford's level. He's one of the best 3 or 4 in the world currently in my opinion. Virtually impossible to replace like for like.
