A very strong team and bench so another good chance of a win.

Sale fielding third choice scrum half so with our depth of experience I would hope we could exert some real pressure, particularly at the set piece. AJ missing is also a big plus.

Martin has been seen training as second row so his use as cover in this position is not unexpected.

Snap! Pretty much what I said a minute earlier.. great minds hey!

Kieran Wilkinson has featured in all 5 of Sale's game so far this season with 2 starts and 3 off the bench although he looked a little shaky last week, especially off the tee.
Gus Warr has only played 32 minutes of rugby this season with 2 appearances off the bench.
Tom Curtis has only played 24 minutes of rugby this season with 2 appearances off the bench.
Nye Thomas is making his first appearance for Sale

This is a very inexperienced group of half backs. I'm not saying they aren't quality players just that this is definitely an area to pressure/target.

OPTA STATS

Leicester Tigers have lost their last five Premiership games against Sale Sharks, only against Exeter Chiefs have the Tigers lost more consecutive games in the competition (L7, December 2017 – March 2021).
Leicester Tigers have won their last six matches on the bounce in the Premiership, including each of their five games in the 2021/22 campaign so far – their longest winning run to start a single season.
Sale Sharks are yet to win away from home in the Premiership this season (D1, L1); in fact, they haven’t won any of their last four road games in the competition (D1, L3) after winning 10 of their previous 13 (L3).
Sale Sharks have scored 30+ points in their last three away games but have never had a longer such run in the Premiership; Sharks have won 31 of their 46 road games in which they have scored 30+ points (D4, L11) but haven’t won any of their last three (D1, L2).
Leicester Tigers have conceded just three tries in the first half of games in the Premiership this season, only Saracens (2) have conceded fewer than them during this period of matches.
Leicester Tigers have scored the most (55) and conceded the fewest (14) points of any side in the final quarter of their games in the Premiership this season.
Sale Sharks have scored 17 points per game in the first half of matches in the Premiership this season, only Saracens have a higher average in the first 40 minutes (18.3).
Leicester Tigers (39) and Sale Sharks (39) have made the joint-most dominant tackles of any team in the Premiership this season; indeed, only one other side has logged 30+ in this category (Gloucester – 36).
Leicester Tigers’ George Ford has scored the most points (48 – 9 con, 10 pen) of any player in the Premiership this season; indeed, Ford’s 10 penalty goals are the most by any player in the campaign.
Sale Sharks’ Coenie Oosthuizen has made 20/20 tackles in the Premiership this season, the most by any player who is yet to miss a single attempt.

Even without the stats from TIGERBEAT, I think many would see this as the first real test of the team this year (no disrespect to our previous opponents).

Two very good sides and should be a good match and will be a big test as to where we are on the road to recovery.

Some interesting stats.

In the Sale match review they note that they have not lost to Tigers in the last 6 years but this is a bit like comparing chalk and cheese. We have a very different team and back room this season and the results speak for themselves. I do not see Sale adding to their run of wins over the Tigers.

Made me chuckle this did. First real test. Obviously Saracens and Exeter are lower end sides then and Gloucester away is a gimme.

And Irish away seems to be a bit of a banana skin too..

I think that's 5 SAs in the starting forwards...and a couple more on the bench
