it's a hybrid system. 100% grass surface with a synthetic support carpet underneath. hope this helps

How serious are the injuries to Genge, Porter and Potter?Ian Cant wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 5:19 pm Great to win the ugly games. Well done to everyone at the club.
Off to Worcester next week: a place where our form in recent seasons has also been ugly. Hope lots of fans are going as there are plenty of seats/ standing left if fans want to make the short trip.
Enjoy today then hope we can again put out a very good squad next week.
Genge maybe on the bench like against Saracens.
The backs still aren’t firing so try, injuries permitting, to keep them almost unchanged!

When Steward hurt his foot he was off the grass part and on the artificial part so all around the pitch there is a sliver of pure artificial
It’s about 1/2 a metre from the white and another 1 metre wide
It was a great, view, lovely atmosphere (not a great game)

It was a good win, we never really went out of 3rd gear, but felt like we did hold ourselves back.
Van Staden looks the complete openside, Reffell is one of the best at the breakdown but van Staden really does have that aggressive carrying game not many true opensides can have

Interesting, but that's the old Brentford ground, not the new stadium. Either way the pitch today was not artificial like Sarries etc.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 5:09 pm

Given we haven't really been using all 4 of the lineout jumpers in the starting XV with Martin and Liebenberg in the back row I'd be really interested to see Reffell and van Staden start together. Reffell has the work rate in defence to meet that tackle count our blindsides are expected to have in Borthwick's game plan.RagingBull wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 5:41 pm It was a good win, we never really went out of 3rd gear, but felt like we did hold ourselves back.

van Staden really reminds me of Hamish Watson which I mean as a huge compliment given he's one of my favourite players!

I didn't see all the game live due to distractions at home so can't comment there Knightonian.Knightonian wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 5:36 pmWhen Steward hurt his foot he was off the grass part and on the artificial part so all around the pitch there is a sliver of pure artificial

I was just commenting as it seemed a few thought the Brentford pitch was an arti as opposed to hybrid like most rugby grounds these days. Desso/Grassmaster are one of the most respected companies doing hybrid pitches as well so they haven't shirked on price either!

Whew. We ground that one out. Great start. I’m a believer in being on a roll (compare and contrast City in 15/16 and the confidence levels) so I am very optimistic about this season.

Who is Montoija?

I'm not sure of the correct pronunciations but I'm guessing he plays with Leatinunga and Nandolo.. let's be grateful that EW Viljoen no longer plays for us!
