Behind for 83 minutes, ahead for 30 seconds but what a 30 seconds it was!

Fantastic match. What a finish. Agree Sorries never looked like scoring. Atrocious conditions but we just kept on in there. So chuffed

What was our game plan in the first half?
Kick to them. They kick it back with the wind behind them. No surprise that didn’t work. Kick to touch would have been so much smarter as would a little patience in the scrum. Too many free kicks to give their front row an easy out.
Sarries offered little in truth.

Very gracious comments from Mark McCall, I see. No moans about the referee, and pretty much said Tigers deserved the win.

To win against Sarries is such a rare delight no matter how its done. Kobus was yey again underwhelming but at least he stayed on the pitch which is progress. Tigers kicking game was attrocius led by Ben Youngs and interesting to see Farrell has mastered and deployed the spiral bomb. It was a game for the forwards and they did excel under the conditions and in defence. Burns not great under the high ball and failed to make his tackles stick. Gengey was up for it and added to our go forward with Liebenburg, Martin and Chessum to the fore. Henderson certainly made his presence felt when he came on. A game to forget but a victory to savour
Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity

I think the tactics were similar to those we used in the Ulster game. First half just stay in touch but try and use the kicking game to force their forwards into a lot of running. Second half empty our stronger bench and look to take the game to them.mol2 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 02, 2021 7:32 pm What was our game plan in the first half?

Maul was pretty much over the line when Sarries brought it down. Try would have made it 11-12 with them still ahead with a tricky conversion to come in tough conditions.. glad Ridley didn’t bottle awarding the penalty try but made it easy for us, in particular Ford that they brought it down

Saumaki's very emotional post match interview is worth a watch if you haven't seen it already.

As the maul bas headed for the posts the conversion wasn't going to be that tricky.
The drive infield was smart in that the possible conversion would have been easier but they conceded the penalty try and took it out of the risk of a decisive conversion.

Excellent result

the big problem with the kicking game was we kept kicking right at them, kick to the open space on that surface it would be a nightmare to deal with

Now it could be the Lagavulin talking, but that might just be the best result I've ever seen at Welford Road.
(Forgive me, but I have I spent many years very many miles from Leicester, and it is nice to have taken a season ticket for the last few years).
