To say I was surprised at the defeat of Toulouse at Wasps would be an understatement. Shocked would be the word. They are undoubtedly missing Antoine Dupont who has an unspecified injury. Neither of the scrum halves this afternoon are anywhere near the level of Dupont and I hope the club are actively seeking to resolve this problem.

To be fair there aren't many players near the level of Dupont at the moment, I don't think you'd get Faf as backup

No, he wasn’t in the squad yesterday. Don’t know why.

Probably because he is leaving.

Face no longer fits is my guess. Strange, though, that someone on over a million euros a year isn’t even on the bench.

Pretty sure since he has left, even when he's played it's only been as a 12.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Yesterday's Top14 results:

Pau 28 Clermont 20
S Français 26 Toulon 24

With another defeat, Toulon find themselves 13th, but with three games in hand on 12th placed Perpignan.

1 Bordeaux/Bègles played 15/points 54
2 Montpellier 14/44
3 Lyon 16/44
4 Toulouse 14/42
5 Castres 16/41
6 La Rochelle 15/36
7 Clermont 15/34
8 Racing 15/34
9 Pau 15/32
10 S Français 15/31
11 Brive 15/27
12 Perpignan 16/24
13 Toulon 13/23
14 Biarritz 16/20

Next weekend's fixtures:

Saturday 5th
Perpignan v Toulouse
Lyon v SF
Montpellier v Pau
Racing v Brive
Toulon v Castres

Sunday 6th
Biarritz v La Rochelle
Clermont v Bordeaux

There'll be Top 14 matches each weekend in February and I don't think that players in the French squad will be available for their clubs (even if not selected for the French team), which is particularly tough on Toulouse, who supply 11 players, who now find themselves in 4th and 12 points below first placed Bordeaux.

The weekend's Top14 results:

Toulouse have now lost four consecutive Top14 matches and find themselves 5th after having been undisputed leaders for several weeks, lowly Perpignan giving them a beating on Saturday.
And look who's in last place - Toulon! (although they've three games in hand on the 13th placed Biarritz, but even so, who'd have said that they'd be bottom!)

Clermont v Bordeaux postponed
Biarritz 27 La Rochelle 24
Perpignan 36 Toulouse 13
Lyon 26 SF 22
Montpellier 29 Pau 12
Racing 57 Brive 19
Toulon 10 Castres 22

1 Bordeaux 15/54
2 Montpellier 15/49
3 Lyon 17/48
4 Castres 17/45
5 Toulouse 15/42

11 Perpignan 19/29
12 Brive 16/27
13 Biarritz 17/24
14 Toulon 14/23

Next weekend's fixtures:
Friday 11th Toulouse v SF
Saturday 12th Racing v Pau
Brive v Clermont
Toulon v Bordeaux (14th v 1st!)

There were four Top14 matches this weekend:

Toulouse 28 Stade Français 29 (5 consecutive Top14 defeats for the current French and European Champions and they drop to 6th place! They had 9 players in the French squad for yesterday's match, prop Baille, hookers Marchand and Mauvaka, 2nd row Flament, wing forwards Jelonch and Cros, half-backs Dupont and Ntamack, and utility back Ramos. On a positive note, there were 9 players against SF who are under 21 who got first team experience)
Racing 35 Pau 29
Brive 27 Clermont 20
Toulon 21 Bordeaux 18

1 Bordeaux 16/55
2 Montpellier 15/49
3 Lyon 17/48
4 Castres 17/45
5 Racing 17/43
6 Toulouse 16/43
7 La Rochelle 16/37
8 S Français 17/36
9 Clermont 16/34 (Clermont are going through a tough patch too having won 7/lost 9 and are away to Bordeaux on Sunday)
10 Pau 17/32
11 Brive 17/31
12 Perpignan 17/29
13 Toulon 15/27
14 Biarritz 17/24

Next weekend's fixtures:

Saturday 19th
Pau v Toulouse
Brive v Montpellier
Castres v Lyon
SF v Biarritz
Toulon v Perpignan (12th v 13th)
La Rochelle v Clermont

Sunday 20th
Bordeaux v Racing

Another loss for Toulouse in spite of Pau having two players red carded. I thought Pau were magnificent given the challenges they faced and truly deserved the win. SB really has the right approach at the Tigers . We can lose players to the England squad and still perform well enough to produce results.

6th consecutive defeat in the Top14, and away to Wasps in the Champions’ Cup. They’re evidently missing their players in the French squad, prop Baille, hookers Marchand and Mauvaka, second row Flament, back row Cros and Jelonch, and halfbacks Dupont and Ntamack. On paper, they’ve got strength in depth, but clearly these players are not performing. Worrying times for the double champions of France and Europe.
