We can lose players to the England squad and still perform well enough to produce results.
6th consecutive defeat in the Top14, and away to Wasps in the Champions’ Cup. They’re evidently missing their players in the French squad, prop Baille, hookers Marchand and Mauvaka, second row Flament, back row Cros and Jelonch, and halfbacks Dupont and Ntamack. On paper, they’ve got strength in depth, but clearly these players are not performing. Worrying times for the double champions of France and Europe.
Kolbes decision not looking that bad now then!

I'm going to look at ProD2 (second division) today.

After round 21 the table is as follows:

1 Mont de Marsan played 21/points 74
(For the old'uns among us, former players include Guy and André Boniface, Thomas Castaignède, Christian Darrouy, Benôit Dauga, Laurent Rodriguez and ex Tiger Waisale Serevi)
2 Oyonnax 21/73
3 Bayonne 21/70
4 Colomiers 21/54
5 Nevers 21/52
6 Carcassonne 21/51
7 Montauban 20/48
8 Provence 21/47
9 Aurillac 21/45
10 Vannes 21/43
11 Béziers 20/41
12 Agen 21/40 (Agen, after a torrid season in the Top 14 2020/21 when they lost every game and a nightmare start in ProD2, they've began to climb up the table. Former players include the great Philippe Sella)
13 Grenoble 21/37
14 Bourg-en-Bresse 21/36
15 Rouen 21/33
16 Narbonne 21/26

At the end of the season, the clubs finishing 3rd-6th play off with the winners playing the clubs finishing 1st and 2nd. The winner is automatically promoted and the runner-up will have to play the Top14's 13th placed club for a place in next season's Top14. Logically, the current top 3 have opened up a significant gap and will surely be the main contenders for promotion.
At the other end, the bottom two clubs are relegated to the Nationale division.

No mistake, he played for Mont de Marsan from 1998 to 2003 (again according to Wiki!)

3 Lyon 18/49

11 Brive 18/33

Apologies for the late reply.

Yes, he does play for Mont de Marsan!
On Saturday the 4th March he wore No13 and scored a try at home against Montauban, helping Mont de Marsan open up a four-point lead at the top of ProD2.

Top14 results from the weekend:

Stade Français 23 Toulouse 16 (SF do the double over Toulouse, who are no longer in the Top6 - worrying time for Toulouse who are well and truly on the slippery slope!)
Castres 25 Montpellier 9
Biarritz 17 Toulon 45 (emphatic win for Toulon that surely condemns Biarritz to go straight back down to ProD2)
Bordeaux 16 Pau 23 (an unexpected away win for Pau at leaders Bordeaux)
La Rochelle 41 Brive 15
Perpignan 34 Racing 13 (Racing were missing a few regulars, but nonetheless, a heavy defeat against lowly Perpignan)
Clermont 25 Lyon 15 (2 ex Tigers in opposing sides - a try scoring Lavanini and Jordan Taufua)

1 Bordeaux 19/57
2 Montpellier 18/56
3 Lyon 20/54
4 Castres 20/54
5 Racing 20/51
6 La Rochelle 19/50
7 Toulouse 19/48
8 SF 20/45
9 Clermont 19/44
10 Pau 20/41
11 Brive 20/37
12 Toulon 18/36
13 Perpignan 20/34
14 Biarritz 20/24

The next full round of fixtures will be on March 26th, but in between there'll be some catch-up games:

March 12th Montpellier v Toulon
March 19th Toulon v La Rochelle
March 20th Toulouse v Montpellier (the day after France v England so Toulouse will again be deprived of their top players against an in-form Montpellier)

There are two catch-up matches this weekend:

Toulon v La Rochelle
Toulouse v Montpellier

Toulon need to win to distance themselves from the relegation zone and Toulouse, with ten players on French duty, need to overcome the Top14 leaders to get back into the top 6.
