Chris Rose informed the supporters forum that Brink is injured and Tigers did not forsee that Wiese and Van Basten would be away with South Africa and Wiese will definitely need a break post his return. Hence the recent back row recruitment cover.

I suppose they hoped with Vermulen returning from injury, Wiese would be back by now.

Also realised that Brink wasn't on the list, but don't think he's played since his latest injury.

That plus us signing Gareth Evans as cover for Wiese & Van Staden (rather than just using Brink) suggests he's not yet match fit

Have added Clare on because some have said Borthwick has said he's injured (am away atm so haven't seen anything myself, but could have missed it)

Among the unused players so far is South African back row Cyle Brink, whose most recent moment in a Tigers shirt was hobbling off 30 minutes into the Challenge Cup final. Hooker Charlie Clare, who enjoyed a fantastic 2020/21 season, has also yet to feature so far this term.

Borthwick confirmed both players had suffered injuries, but did not expand on how long the players will be out for. He said: "Both of those players have got knocks at the minute and they will be out for the next... we will see how long."
