Vanes might not have the size of Riley but he’s certainly nailed his fundamentals down.

Not sure how strong the opposition is, but there is a clear gulf in class between the two teams. Englands forwards making metres time after time with ball in hand and the likes of Smith, Lancaster and Orlando Bailey pulling the strings in the backs.

Riley can run over Townsend’s lad as many times as he wants, but as long as he keeps overthrowing in the lineout he will lose out to Vanes.

If we are looking at development players Scotland 7 Ollie Leatherbarrow looks a handful.

England can’t deal with either the hooker or Leatherbarrow at the breakdown. I don’t know why neither side are going for the sticks to be honest.

did our back row get injured?

brilliant from JVP to sack the 8 on that uncontested scrum as soon as he picked up

Poor game really, Scotland should have won that, Dan Lancaster has something about him though.

Really? I only saw part of the second half and I thought the skill level, attitude, fitness and commitment was excellent from both sides but more so from England. I know some have premiership experience like J vP but, given their ages, I thought they showed a maturity beyond their years.

Yes the incessant repetition of Scotland to kick for touch only to overthrow/mess up the lineout so England would counterattack but would get turned over at the breakdown on repeat was pretty much the summary of the game. England conceded in excess of 20 penalties, most of which were in their half so pretty convertible from a Scottish point of view it was really poor of them to have not scored more than 12 points. All made worse by a commentator who sounded like he was reading off a script and could have sent me to sleep.

England back row did not perform well at the ruck. Slow and flopping on top of the Scots who were in on the ball first. If the Scots had a line out we would have been in trouble. JVP doing well.
