Mike Ford

Maybe a unpopular opinion but how good has our defence looked this season.

When you look at his background before he went into Head coach role
Irish defence coach
British and Irish lions defence coach
Saracens defence coach
RFU defence coach
Newcastle defence coach
Do you think it was sort of forgotten what his bread and butter was due to Bath very dangerous attacking team in 2014/15.

I know he splits opinions but even with our card collecting our defence has looked so much better.
I think he gels well with Borthwick and personally I do think he's learned from his time at Bath and Toulon.

Also good interview

Agreed. Much more solid and some ferocious defending recently in particular :smt027

Always thought Mike Ford was a very good coach but not a Head Coach.
Now that he is being allowed to specialise on the defence then hopefully we will keep on getting tighter!

He’s put the structure in place and the players have bought into it. Scott and Moroni driving the standards.

The credentials on the CV always spoke louder than the rumours. His message does seem seem to be getting across as the brutality of some of the open play and set tackling is there for all to see.A massive improvement on the last three or so years - again though, time needed for players and to gel and systems to settle.Need to resolve discipline and play with thought in addition to heart , but again things are moving in the right direction.

Presently would be more than a little interested in a return to coaching Rugby League , so it would seem :

I'm sure he will get offers both here in the UK and overseas. I think with SB he was looking to bring in new blood with new ideas and to do that there had to be a parting of the ways. He's a good coach and with others I wish him all the best

Great interview that. I'm not really into RL but there is no doubt there are things that the two codes can and have learnt from each other.

A defense coach of the top order.

Perhaps isn't a head coach at the top level.

Why we made him attack coach for a while was one of the most bewildering actions in recent years at Tigers.
