Even after my criticisms of him not being quick-witted enough, I too am surprised he’s not been selected. But it’s hard to argue that Ben Curry doesn’t deserve a call up.

I am still not convinced about Earl at international level.

He's everywhere at club level but seems to struggle up against the international sides.

I would agree as well. For me Ted Hill is the one most likely to break into the full England team.

Also interesting to see Eddie has dropped Tom Willis - he really doesn’t seem to like number 8s.

I like Ted Hill, but the competition for backrow places is crazy. At blindside alone you’ve got Tom Curry the incumbent, Jack Willis probably next in line. Martin has been great too recently at 6, maybe looking to move into the engine room.

Of course! :smt003

You would expect Heyes and Kelly to feature so that they can be tied to England, which is the point of this fixture, alongside Rodd, Randall and I suppose Umaga.

Given this one is an "A" fixture I'd be surprised if the fully capped players, certainly established ones like Genge, Underhill etc play this one.
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

I do think that it is time that England moved on from Manu for both of their benefits. England cannot build a side for the future with a player who has a massive impact on what tactics are applied being seldom available and, even if fit, is by no means guaranteed to hold up for a whole 6 nations or the later stages of a World Cup. Meanwhile, with the injuries still coming thick and fast, is it time for Manu to give his body more rest each year by giving up on international commitments. No end of players have had years added to their playing career by hanging up their international boots and so maybe it is time.

Don't get me wrong, would love to see Manu at his finest in an England shirt but maybe it is better for all parties to admit that is not going to happen.
