Italy's attack has looked at its best under his reign, do they play in the same way his Cheetahs side did?
Very much so.

Sounds like an astute signing. Yes international HC to club Attack/Backs Coach is in theory a step down, but there's approximately zero chance of him achieving anything at Italy - how does it enhance his career to lead a team to 5 defeats once every year plus a few other meaningless matches? On the other hand, Tigers look like they are really building something and SB looks destined to have a huge future - definitely a setup you would want to be a part of.

Perhaps the South African connection we've developed may play a part in him taking the role.

It doesn't sound a done deal just we have put a offer on the table.
If true though I guess answers the question about looking at coaches still.

Could very well be an astute addition if the deal does go through.

Guy Noves replacing him with Italy
From what I've read, Novès was approached for the Italian job, but has said no.

For me though I don’t see us having many of that bench next season though

Who do we reckon is leaving?

I currently have it split roughly like this:

Definitely leaving:
De Bruin
Lavannini

Likely leaving
Bower
Diaz Bonilla
Coghlan
Kerr
Marfo
Williams (loan)
Worth

50/50 leaving
Taute
Olowafela
Aspland-Robinson
Lewis

Maybe leaving
Dimen
Smith T
Wallace
White
Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Hope Taute and Wallace stay, both experienced players who will be great to have in the squad. White has a big future in a Tigers shirt, already improved under Wigglesworth. Him and JVP are the future at 9.

Agree re keeping all 3 I'd like them to stay

White I think is wanting more gametime, but given how the likes of Wigglesworth have helped him develop, I think he's likely to stay, especially if Wigglesworth is winding down the amount he plays.

Wallace I think would like a bit more gametime, but he's got stiff competition. He is playing it's all a question of is it as much as he wants, if not will he play more elsewhere, I don't think he would particularly, so reckon we'll be keeping him.

Taute, again with how Porter and Kelly especially have progressed I think he's further down the pecking order than he expected. Will he be happy possibly captain of the Prem cup side and the odd apperance? I think he's a tossup atm.

There was a lot of talk of that with the financial implications of Covid and reducing cap squads would be smaller with more players that can play multiple positions. To that end our squad (taking into account all the loanies) seems on the large side so I would think we'll need to lose some players beyond that already confirmed, even assumed.

Anyone prepared to hazard a guess what squad size clubs will have for next season on average? And how many we have on the books currently?

Good question. Suppose it is whether players are classed as Development or Senior. Note this year we have played 45 players but at least

Genge Van Wyk Cole Heyes Leatigaga Hurd Whitcombe
Montoya Youngs Clare Dolly
Wells Green Snyman Martin Henderson
Leibenberg Brink Weise Reffel Chessum Wallace Smith Van Staden
Youngs Wigg White Van Portfvliet
Ford Burns Henry McPhillips
Scott Kelly Moroni Porter Taute
Nadolo Murimurivalu Potter Van Wyk Steward Simmons

That is 42 which is very large for all those to be Senior. Suspect many will still be classed as development players but leaves us with a lot leaving...

Worth
Olowafella
Williams
Lewis
Kerr
Bonilla
Coghlan
Bower
Aspland Robinson

Sure I’ve missed someone but Borthwick has plenty of choice now.
