Agreed!! Can’t see us tempting Smith away though now he’s getting some first team chances though. Can almost see Lancaster and Matthews coming though - or at least one of themTigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 11:10 amBoth Smith and Lancaster impressed me in that game would be happy with either/bothRunTigerRun wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 11:08 amHe played 12, Worcester’s Finn Smith played 10 (and played very well too - nice partnership with JVP).
Lancaster carried well, tackled well. Can’t specifically remember any kicking but having watched him previously his kicking out of hand and from the tee is strong also.

Not surprised by those selections, although only 4 with how depleted the dev squad could be next season is a little surprisingRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:22 pm Lewis Chessum(lock)

Tigers sign Socino from Saracens, guess he is our 3rd 10 who can cover 12?

Riccardo got a bit of game time on loan with Zebre again this season which was good to see. I certainly think he's good enough to be a Pro 14 prop.
Earlier in the season I thought Tiz Pasquali could have been a good fit at Tigers as a 3rd choice TH behind Cole and Heyes as he was out of contract and Treviso have some depth at TH. He re-signed with Treviso for a couple more years though. Great on him too. Tiz kicked on so well to become a solid squad player for Italy with 20 caps under his belt.

Hope we sign a younger 10 as well, just feel like replacing two relatively young fly half’s with two 10 who are 30+ isn’t really planning for the futurekpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:33 pm Tigers sign Socino from Saracens, guess he is our 3rd 10 who can cover 12?

Well phoenix Laulu-Togagae was saying he was got a contract through a partnership with Lough along with 5 others.kpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:26 pmNot surprised by those selections, although only 4 with how depleted the dev squad could be next season is a little surprisingRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:22 pm Lewis Chessum(lock)

So could potentially be 11 in total just 4 full time.

TBF we have some interesting 10 options comingtigercub21 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:40 pmHope we sign a younger 10 as well, just feel like replacing two relatively young fly half’s with two 10 who are 30+ isn’t really planning for the futurekpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:33 pm Tigers sign Socino from Saracens, guess he is our 3rd 10 who can cover 12?

Meredith
Woodward
Loose
Grobler
Granted the later have been more utility backs
I'm not 100% sold on this signing, but IMO we do need 4 players that can play 10 and he plays 12 just as much.

Forgot about that RB, with the ones likely to stay in the dev squad from the current group it would be around the same number totalRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:47 pmWell phoenix Laulu-Togagae was saying he was got a contract through a partnership with Lough along with 5 others.kpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:26 pmNot surprised by those selections, although only 4 with how depleted the dev squad could be next season is a little surprisingRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:22 pm Lewis Chessum(lock)

Its not a signing to make you jump out your seat but as long as he's not on silly money as a 3rd choice 10 he's not terrible, It does strike me as a signing that is probably a 1 year contract just to tide us over till we can get somebody else maybe?tigercub21 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:40 pmHope we sign a younger 10 as well, just feel like replacing two relatively young fly half’s with two 10 who are 30+ isn’t really planning for the futurekpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:33 pm Tigers sign Socino from Saracens, guess he is our 3rd 10 who can cover 12?

If one of our Argentine contingent has dual citizenship I'm happy, adds depth at centre too, particularly as a creative 12 was something we missed.
Quite pleased with this signing.

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

We also have to remember the first signings tend to be the ones least likely to make us sit up and say wow, big ones later in the day methinks...

“Juan is a player with positional flexibility, who adds strong depth to our backline and will also be a great addition to our young, inexperienced squad as an experienced professional.”
I think sums up the signing nicely.

I agree with the sentiment but I'm not sure we'll be getting anymore today, the lack of any popcorn references makes me think this is a one-offTigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:56 pm We also have to remember the first signings tend to be the ones least likely to make us sit up and say wow, big ones later in the day methinks...

Looks like Socino has an Italian passport and has spent alot of time in the UK with Newcastle, Rotherham, Edinburgh and Saracens
