Re: Sat 20th March - Exeter away
Great to see Liebenberg at captain. Interesting midfield, I would have gone the other way round with Scott at 12 and Kelly at 13 but maybe that's a defensive call? Really good to see Kerr, White and Potter back in the mix too. Not a ridiculous amount of rotation by any means and this is a team that can still really challenge Exeter.

Not too much change actually. New front row will be interesting. Backs are largely similar, enjoyed watching Kelly last week and Scott at 13 will be something to watch. Like the look of the back row and Potter on the bench is nice to see.

The key as always is discipline. Give away penalties and into the corner they go and we all know what happens next.....try...yellow card and more pressure. Cut those out and we’ll be in the game.

Liebenberg as captain is a good move.
Like how Henderson is getting a start with a top quality 2nd row.
Like the bench look too.
Agree with JP14 some nice rotation giving Cole, Moroni & Green a break but not a significant weakening.
Tough ask to get anything from Sandy Park but reckon they can get a minimum of a LBP and hopefully a whole lot more!

Used to run around with an 11, 14 or 15 on my back.

Exactly that. I really think that we should not be disheartened by any means if we take nothing away tomorrow. It’s just about performance and hopefully like you say a LBP!TigerFeetSteve wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 12:08 pm Liebenberg as captain is a good move.

Good looking side with plenty of continuity in selection to help the youngsters. Great opportunity for JVP to step up his game as a starting 9, can't be as complacent or inaccurate as he was last week.
Re: Sat 20th March - Exeter away
Some of our 'fringe' players needed a start if we are to develop the depth of squad we will need if we are to win anything. I thought Moroni might have had a seat on the bench but in general I am happy with the selection and am looking forward to a good game.

Yes, I think it interesting to see Kelly and Scott at 12 and 13. That's an inexperienced 9-10-12. Would have thought that having Scott at 12 might have helped Henry out a bit more. Maybe they will alternate?
Obvious to say it, but it will be a tough ask to come away with anything, but all in the performance.

An insight into Rob Baxter's thinking:
That August fixture was the first game in charge for Tigers coach Steve Borthwick, who in the months that have preceded that clash, has undergone quite a transformation in personnel and style for the East Midlanders.
“I think what you have seen since that game is a change in the squad, a fair direction in the way they are heading, and a team who are starting to gain results,” said Baxter. “Going to Gloucester and winning last time out – in what was a tough game and a tough environment – was a big result for them, so they are starting to gain that little bit of momentum.
“It’s funny, at the moment we seem to be coming up against teams with a bit of momentum behind them and who want to throw everything at us. In a lot of ways, that’s great for us. We are probably in that furnace of competitive rugby each week, which I hope turns us into steel. We’re getting challenged every week, but most of the time we’re coming up with the answers we need.
“I’ve no doubt we will be challenged again this weekend by a Leicester side who will see this as a great opportunity themselves to step up where they want to be. They are not going to be backward in wanting to come an established Premiership-winning team again, because that is in their DNA, I just don’t want us to be a stepping stone for them to do that.”
